Modified - Doing a total of 60 damage to any Pokemon for only 2 energy is awesome. The second attack is also great, doing up to 100 damage, but with the drawback of 10 to your bench. It's probably best played as going aggressive early with one empoleon to hit the opponent's bench, then when that empoleon goes down you can clean up with another one with Surf Together. 4/5

Limited - Hard to get a stage 2 in play. If you do, more power to ya. 3/5

Hey all, today we have the new Empoleon, which can definitely be a force to be reckoned with.

Name:   Empoleon Lv. 49

Set:   Majestic Dawn

Rarity:   Rare

Analysis: This Empoleon is definitely one of the better new cards. 130 HP is definitely a good start, and the retreat cost of 2 is not bad. Weakness to lightning shouldn't be a worry, especially since Gallade can scare off most people from playing lightning. On to the attacks. Dual Splash is very good. Snipe any two Pokemon for 30 damage apiece. Surf Together is also very good. 100 damage (90 with Double Rainbow) is pretty good. The downside is the damage to your own bench, but it does depend on a coin flip. Altogether, Empoleon can definitely brawl with Magmortar out there.

Modified: Looking to break the metagame? This guy can easily OHKO Magmortar and Blaziken. (4/5)

Limited: Load up on basics, get this guy out, and rampage opponents! (4/5)

Empoleon Lv.49 MD

Is it Wednesday already? Anyway, today’s COTD today is sure to make quite a splash at worlds this year. The HP is great, not much can beat 130, the first attack is nice, 30 damage to two pokemon makes most pokemon have 100 HP or less left and makes them within range of KO from a maxed out Group Surf (Unless they heal…) But anyway, this card looks amazing but shows a few obvious problems, first is the fact that this thing can’t use DRE, doing 20 to two benched pokemon and 90 max isn’t enough to 2HKO the biggest threats out there. And with Dusknior being teched in everywhere, don’t even try to max out on group surf if you see the Duskull on the opponent’s bench.

Pros –

130 HP is Grrreat!

(W)(C) For 30 to two pokemon is nice

(W)(W)(C) For a max of 100 is amazing!

Cons –

High retreat (Fair but high)

Can’t abuse DRE

Hates Dusknior

Modified – be prepared to see lots of this around worlds. 4.5/5

Limited – if you can get it charged up you win! 5/5 if you get it out.

Alright, this weekend REALLY is the weekend I leave for Disneyland, I’ll see if I can do the whole weeks worth of COTD’s early but I leave Sunday morning (Which is usually the day we get the COTD’s…)

Well i guess this card is "ok", Nonetheless its nothing special . I need to see some cool combo with this before i think this will will get any real attention. A lot of other pokes do something simular.
