Ooooh yay, I get to review one of the cards I faced (and lost to) this weekend. This is one you may not have seen yet (like me yesterday): the Dusknoir promo.

Name: Dusknoir Lv. 49
Set: Promo (DP33)

HP: (130) - This is the best out of all of the Dusknoirs, and is definitely solid for a stage 2.

Weakness/Resistance: (Darkness+30/Colorless-20) - The weakness can spell trouble against stuff like Tyranitar, and of course stuff using Weavile for the Darkness Energy effect. Resistance to colorless is nice.

Retreat Cost: (2) - This retreat cost isn't terrible, but of course you would want some Moonlight Stadium to help preserve energy.

Poke-POWER: (Dark Hide) - This power is great, if you can flip heads. The opponent I played did not flip a heads with this for like 6 straight turns, but it definitely made me nervous.

Attack #1: (PPC - Reaper Pulse) - This is definitely a solid attack, as far as Dusknoirs go. If Unown G's are giving you problems, this can get around them with actual damage, and then hit something benched for 2 damage counter and heal yourself at the same time.

Final Analysis: I like this card, and it definitely surprised me when I had to face it. This thing is solid, and is a great addition to the family of manipulation that is Dusknoir.

Modified: Dusknoir makes for a solid deck choice, especially with the Lv. X now, and this is a very nice addition. Use 1 or 2 of these with the Lv. X and the one with Dark Palm. (4/5)

Limited: Sorry, this is a promo. (1/5)

OK, going to be brief with this one, as it doesn’t deserve much of a review.

First, in the holiday season, I will say something nice. The picture is nice. It appears to be collectible.

Now, for the negative. There are SOOO many good Dusknoirs out there, that this one should not see any play at all, for just about any reason. It’s attacks are more logical on one of the other Dusknoirs.

Ratings.

Modified 1/5 You drop this card, I am going to give you the ??? look.

Limited 1/5 If you get it, everyone else did too. Not draftable as a promo.

Vince
