Modified - A possible 70 damage for 2 energy is good, but not good enough on an 80 HP pokemon. Just use Banette and do a definite 80 damage. Silver Wind is bad. The effect goes away if the Defending Pokemon retreats or evolves. 2/5


Limited - Much better here. Mothim will probably take a little damage so Raging Scales can do 70. Silver Wind will force your opponent to retreat and lose energy, or take 110 damage on their next turn. 4/5

Welcome, today’s COTD is a Pop7 card that is actually good! I have already seen some crazy decks out there with this in it. The HP stinks, the weakness is horrible, and the second attack is only good if your opponent can’t OHKO Mothim. Anyway, that isn’t why people are playing it; the first attack makes your next attack to that pokemon do 40 more damage. It was to be the same defending pokemon for the whole turn but, you get that extra 40 with any of your attacks! This is the idea, you use it in a deck that likes to set up really nice, and if your opponent goes gungho on your poor little moth after you used silver wind, you bring up whatever you have powered up and OHKO whatever hit your Mothim. Obviously there is a need for this tactic to be thought out, but that’s the gist of it.


Pros –

First attack rocks

Nice lack of retreat cost


Cons –

Weak to fire

Low HP (Resistance won’t even save you Vs. Gallade)

Weakish second attack (Unless you survive an attack after the turn you use silver wind.)


Modified – That proves it, it isn’t always the pros and the cons that makes the card. 4/5


Limited – Pop7 packs don’t belong here, use real packs or you won’t get squat. X/5
