Solrock

Modified - Sol Charge is a pretty good opening attack. 20 damage for only 1 energy plus energize your bench at the same time. I don't think the Body is that useful because psychic and fighting resistant pokemon are uncommon these days. 2/5

Limited - Great cheap attack. Decent HP. Take it. 4/5

(04/02/08) - Solrock

Name: Solrock Lv. 29
Set: Great Encounters
Rarity: Common

Analysis: Solrock is definitely great and can fit into many decks. It works very well with Lunatone and is also a great starter. 20 damage for 1 energy and a good effect?? Wow. You'd expect this on an evolution, but on a basic? It has good HP (70) and an acceptable retreat cost (1) and weakness (Grass).

'Sol Charge' does 20 damage for 1 fighting energy and has you attach a basic energy from your discard pile to a benched Pokemon. With Lunatone's Power (reviewed tomorrow), this is a great combination for energy acceleration. Even better, its Body, 'Sunlight', cancels your opponent's Fighting and Psychic resistances for attacks done by your Pokemon (when you have Lunatone in play as well). You can use these guys as starters in any fighting deck, or use them as supporting Pokemon in Psychic decks.

Basically, they made Gardellade that much ridiculously better.

Modified: Great starters and supporters. Any fighting deck should have them, as should any Gardellade deck. (4.5/5)

Limited: Great here, because of quick damage and energy recycling. (5/5)

Morning COTD fans, today’s COTD is Solrock. The COTD today is fairly simple, as long as you have a Lunatone in play none of your fighting or Psychic pokemon are effected by resistance. Did someone out there just yell Gardevoir and Gallade tech? Yep, that’s about what it is, if you have lots of psychic and fighting resistant deck out there in your area and you play G&G, throw a Lunatone and a Solrock into your deck and worry about resistance no more! Oh, don’t forget, this card is also amazing in Banette. No more psychic resistance and it lets Lunatone discard some of your Banette from your hand to do 80!

Pros -
No more resistance for G&G
Let’s Lunatone do it’s power

Cons –
Takes up two bench spaces
Only really good in G&G and Banette…

Modified – 4/5 in G&G in a psychic and fighting resistance heavy area or Banette. 2.5/5 elsewhere

Limited – Only if you get Lunatone and lots of fighting and psychic pokemon, or for the 20 and extra energy for 1 (fighting) 3.5/5

Use the techs wisely and your deck will not fail…

I’ve seen this used effectively in many decks. Its fast it charges you pokes it stops resistance. Many possibilities with such a simple card. Its 1 big problem is its hp it’s basically a free prize anytime but very early in the game

Still many cards are weak to fighting and it’ll often draw you a early prize and it’s a treat that your opponent cannot just ignore (a big quality).
