Modified - Just like Illumise, the attack is disgusting so it's only used for its power. I don't think it sees too much play because of Psychic Lock stopping it, and if it's early in the game you will have little-no supporters in the discard. Plus having Illumise and Volbeat on your bench takes up spots that more important pokemon could take. Bench space is crucial, especially with everyone going ga-ga over Dusknoir now. 2/5

Limited - Well you're lucky to get any supporters here, let alone an Illumise, so the power won't do much good. Confusion is a powerful special condition, but it is a flip, and 20 damage is weak for 2 energy. 2/5
(04/01/08) - Volbeat

Name: Volbeat Lv. 34
Set: Great Encounters
Rarity: Common

Analysis: Volbeat is the other part of the combo with Illumise. This one has the really useful Power (Light Conduct). It has an HP of 70 and a retreat cost of 1 (both OK), but a weakness to Fire (bad).

But it will not and should not fight. 'Firefly Light' is too expensive and flippy. 'Light Conduct' is great because it allows you to recycle Supporters. If you use it with Porygon2, you can recycle Scotts to allow you to grab more Supporters and use 2-3 each turn. But to do this, you would have to take up 3-4 bench spaces, so you better have something unstoppable up front to guard these softies.

Modified: Not bad. Combo it with Illumise and Porygon2. (4/5)

Limited: Like I said before, use it if you managed to get Illumise and Felicity's Drawing. (4/5)

Volbeat Lv.34 GE
Hello! No, I am not dead! It was a nice vacation, but back to work now… Anyways, today’s COTD today is one that could see some use in a supporter oriented deck (Porygon 2 anyone?) But requires Illumise to be able to use its power (Not bad but 2 bench spaces for one effect seems like a rip off.)
Pros –
Supporters back from the dead!
Cons –
Takes up 2 bench spaces
Sniper bait
Modified – Use it if you run through supporters faster than gravy on thanksgiving. 3.5/5
Limited – use it if you get a few Illumise, abuse those few supporters you got! 4.5/5
Hope you all had a wonderful spring break!

Like yesterdays card its attack is useless. To commit 2 energies you need something good. And this attack isn’t it. Its pokepower got potential as it does something unique. Aside from drifblim recycling supporters is a rare treat. Unfortunately the best supporter for recycling ( brineys) have rotated out. Other supporters who just draw you cards or find pokes usually is not worth it as you committing 2 cards to your bench usually can get something better than skipping  your draw step for a supporter. In limited recycling your single supporter is cool though and its attack may even be used here.

It helps stopping absol though J

Modified 2.5

Limited 3

Modified: Like I said yesterday the only play you will probably see is together with Illumise for their Powers. Otherwise This is just a shoe box card.

Rating : 1/5

Limited: This thing with a Illumise owns, because you can get back the Supporters you played. And we all known that in Limited your kinda short on those.

Rating : 2/5
