Pojo's Pokemon Card of the Day

Cloyster δ

EX Legend Maker

Date Reviewed: 12.05.06

Ratings & Reviews Summary
Unlimited: 1
Modified: 1.87
Limited: 1.87

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale.
1 being the worst.  3 ... average.  5 is the highest rating.

2006 World
Cloyster d:
While basically inferior to Dugtrio d, which prevents damage done to any of your benched Pokemon by opponents' attacks and has better attacks, Cloyster d has the small bonus of fitting better into decks that run the Holon Engine

(Holon's Castform/Holon Transceiver/Holon Mentor), as Shellder d and Cloyster d give you a card for Delta Draw.

While its attacks are awful, Cloyster d's main purpose would be to protect decks that are vulnerable to Raichu d's Zzzap attack. Unfortunately, decks playing Raichu d, like the popular Delta (Raichu d/Exeggutor d) also tend to

play Cessation Crystal, which would negate Cloyster's Poke-Body.

Because of this, awful attacks, and the fact that Dugtrio would replace it in any deck not focusing entirely on delta Pokemon, Cloyster d is an overall

weak card.

Modified: 2.5/5

You have no Delta Pokemon to protect, and even if you did, benched damage isn't popular. If your opponent wants to hit something on the bench, they'll use Gust of Wind, or Feint Attack, which would get through the Poke-Body anyway.
Unlimited: 1/5

While their are some attacks that can hurt your bench, Cloyster d isn't strong. While you generally will play any evolution you have the basic for,

don't expect Cloyster d to win you many games. It's basic and its attacks are both very weak.

"Chuck" Brosseau
5th place Worlds 2006 (Also current "best looking player")
Cloyster d

Cloyster d is nice TecH in a Delta based deck if there are a lot of bench hitting decks in your metagame. I'd actually prefer Dugtrio over this card, as it has nice attacks, and prevents bench damage to ALL of your Pokemon.

Unlimited: 1/5

No reason to play this here. Delta Pokemon are weak in Unlimited.

Modified: 2/5

Not bad in Metadrag to give you extra protection against Raichu/Eggs. Not very good in any other deck though.

Limited: 1/5

Very weak attack, and the Poke-Bodys not very useful here.

My name is Cloyster
I have a Solid Shell
I protect Delta Pokemon
So what the hell?

Unlimited: We don’t have any good Delta decks here so….

Rating : 1/5

Modified: We don’t really have any Hardcore Bench Hitters and this thing is way to vulnerable to Rai-Eggs.

Rating : 1/5

Limited: Hmm considerable cause the set is almost completely Delta. But it isn’t that good so…

Rating : 2/5

Computer Guy

The only reason to play this card is to protect your delta benched pokemon, other than that there really is no use for this card.
