ENTEI ‘STAR’

UNLIMITED 2/5
Well, to start off I must admit I am a BIG fan of star/shining cards. Heck, they look cool, have awesome attacks and only give your opponent one prize when they are KO’ed ;) Anyway, in unlimited… if you can find a way to keep it powered up… entei could do some serious damage. Also, with the bad effect of detonation… you will have town volunteers etc to help you recover your deck. Still energy removal will ruin this card sadly. Perhaps combine it with entei (neo revelations)?

MODIFIED 3/5
Without energy removal being so easily accessible here, entei could work sometimes. Still, it does need 3 fire energy to do its main hard hitting attack… The simple fact you can achieve a solid 70 from a non ex basic is impressive enough for me… goodbye scizor ex ;) Explode an electrode ex (so you are not ahead on prizes…) and then attack with entei?

LIMITED 4.5/5
WOW. Awesome in limited. Get a remoraid or something (with call for family attack) search out for entei and start hitting HARD. 3 energy for 70 is amazing in limited on a non ex basic and even with the bad effect of detonation… you should still be able to pull off a quick enough win with this card fully powered!

Hey all,

Today's card is Entei (star) from EX Unseen Forces

And number three of the three legendary dogs without a bite. Once again, first attack is over priced. Once again, second attack is too much of a drawback if you're not in the right situation - and this drawback is crazy. Discarding the top 10 cards of your deck if your ahead in the game! Give me a break. By the time he's all set up and charged, this drawback is pretty much going to deck you in two turns. If you want Entei to star in a deck, stick with the original howler.

Entei*

Unlimited: energy intensive, weak to water, discard your top 10 cards when your ahead on prizes. no this thing is ridiculously bad.
1/5

Modified: 70 for 3 on a basic pokemon is pretty cheap, but the drawback when you are ahead on prizes is enormous, I wouldn't recommend this card either.
1.5/5

Limited: probably pretty strong here because we only have 4 prizes, 3 for 70 is very cheap, and when your a prize behind entei can save your game. it's retreat attack is pretty useful too.
2.5/5

Is that his hair, a cloud, or smoke... ???

Entei [star] (UF#113)

Type: Fire
Fire is pretty hot, and it's also a popular type fire Pokemon decks. Just don't add Water, and you'll be fine.

HP: 80
Very nice for a Basic.

Stage of Evolution: Basic
Such power for a Basic, it's rather nice to see.

PokeBody/PokePower: (none)

Attacks:
[F][any] Burning Turn {20}
Switch Entei [star] with 1 of your Benched Pokemon.

[F][F][F] Detonation {70}
If you have less Prize cards left than your opponent, discard the top 10 cards from your deck.

Weakness: Water
Ouch. Water is also a popular type, so death by drowning is common for Fire decks. Bring your noseplug, water wings and maybe an Ancient Tomb/Protective Orb or 2.

Resistance: (none)
Not very nice... as if he didn't have enough working against him.

Retreat Cost: 1
You'll be glad once he starts taking damage.

Rarity: Holo Rare
Tricky to find, and perhaps not worth the effort...

The Positive:
Another heavy-hitting fire type is ok, and that 70 damage fro a Basic can be nice.

The Negative:
Those 10 cards you stand to loose are a very heavy price to pay.
There just isn't that much good recycling effects out there to make taking the chance worth the effort. Being able to only have 1 in your deck makes using him even harder, and the high usage of Water Pokemon makes him too vulnerable to rely on.

Unlimited:
Moltres ex works much better, as does Entei ex (even with the drawback, as you can use Blaziken [Firestarter] to recover from the loss of Energy.
2.0/5.0

Modified:
Ok here, if you want to risk the heavy drawback. I'd rather use something less risky, personally speaking.
2.0/5.0

Limited:
Can be a nice surprise here, but Water is still better.
2.5/5.0
