Pojo's Pokemon Card of the Day

Latias - Deoxys

Date Reviewed: 03.23.05

Ratings & Reviews Summary
Unlimited: 1
Modified: 1.75
Limited: 2.25

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale.
1 being the worst.  3 ... average.  5 is the highest rating.

Johnny Blaze
Shining Latias  – One of the cool new Shining Pokemon that are really difficult to “catch”.  I think I saw just 1 pulled from 2 Pre-releases I played in.  These cards are always difficult to review as many players dismiss them right away as “This card is best used as trade bait or to sell”.
Unlimited: 1/5 – Way too energy intensive here.  Colorless weakness hurts too.
Modified: 2/5 – Quite techy here.  In fact both Latias and Latios are somewhat decent if not expensive tech cards.  You are wasting 3 different energies but 150 for 3 different colors sounds about right.
Limited: 2/5 – Our previous card, Lady Outing, works well here.   A good 2 prize for 1 scenario when up against an ex.  But make sure you sleeve the card before you play it. lol
Jaeger Latias from Deoxys

Type: With Dark Dragonite being so popular and Rayquaza's still seen it’s always good to be colorless.

Weakness: With a good number of colorless Pokemon being played like Rayquaza and Pidgeot and Cystal Shard not that uncommon weakness to Colorless is really going to hurt this card.

Resistance: Dual resistance is always good to see and I saw a good number of Fighting and Psychic decks at States.

Retreat Cost: Not much to say one is pretty cheap and normally not that hard to pay.

Attack 1(Healing Light): One energy is cheap for an attack but ten damage really is not that much as for the effect not to bad the problem is early game how often do you have damage on your bench and late game there probably going to KO Latias in one hit.

Attack 2(Shooting Star): The effect is great is would KO most EX's in one hit but two problems with this are you either have to run Rainbow Energy or play it in a three color deck and you have to discard all the energy which is not to bad if your going to KO an Pokemon EX.

Summary: In my opinion Latias comes up short in almost every aspect and I do not think you will see it in tournaments at all. But I will complement it I thought the Picture was pretty cool.
