Pojo's Pokemon Card of the Day

Slaking

Ruby Sapphire

Date Reviewed: 07.06.05

Ratings & Reviews Summary
Unlimited: 1.2
Modified: 3.5
Limited: 3.75

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale.
1 being the worst.  3 ... average.  5 is the highest rating.

Bullados Slaking RS

Attributes: You cannot really say anything against 120 HP, as its the highest in the game. Fighting weakness might be a problem, as Medicham and Hariyama decks are going to be very popular until Worlds ends. A retreat of 3 is problematic because of the attack.

Poke-BODY: "Lazy"
This is a very powerful Pokemon Power, as it effectively shuts down 9/10 of the decks out there, with only T2C being unaffected to any real extent.

Attack #1: [CCCC] "Critical Move"
This is a very powerful attack, but it comes with a hefty drawback. First, you have to discard a Basic energy card from Slaking. This is a problem because you can't discard Boost to pay for the attack. Second, Slaking cannot attack during your next turn. This is ANY attack, not just Critical Move. You cannot use any of Vigoroth's or Slakoth's attacks, if you have a Meteor FAlls out. The only real way to get out of this is Switch, or some other card that makes it easy to switch your Active and Bench.

Ratings:

Unlimited: Slower and not as powerful as Charizard, which is a terrible card anyway. Poke-Powers aren't used at all here, and it is ER bait.
1.25/5

Modified: With the high amount of Poke-POWERs out there, Lazy can be a powerful move. However, the lack of an efficient attack and the fact that there are other Pokemon in the format that do the same thing, only better, Slaking's rating is reduced.
3.5/5

Limited: Not as good as it could've been. It easily OHKO's almost every Pokemon in the set, and there is very little that can OHKO it, but a THKO is all they need, as Slaking can't attack once it attacks. Also, Lazy is useless. Still, as a Cleaner or just to take out random Basics, this could work rather nicely.
3.75/5
