So, if there are only Grass Pokemon cards in play, then "Shift" will be useless (because it would only allow Venomoth to Shift to Grass type). However, if you or your opponent is playing another type (fire for example), then you could Shift Venomoth to that new type. Type is important when you calculate Weakness/Resistance. So you would want to use Shift to take advantage of your Opponents Weakness, or avoid his Resistance. Brian Brokaw
