There is no killing in Pokemon.  You "knock-out" Pokemon... not Kill them.

Every time one of your OPPONENT's pokemon is knocked-out, YOU take
one of YOUR prize cards and put it into YOUR hand.

You should never mix your cards (and your opponent's cards) together.
There is no need.
