Yes. Absolutely. >In the rule book, for the definition of retreating it says, "The act of >taking your Active Pokémon and switching it with one of your Benched >Pokémon." That means that retreating is switching but is switching >retreating? Like how a chicken is a bird but a bird is not necessarily a >chicken. Because of the word "act" in there it makes it sound as if any >method of switching your active pokémon with your benched pokémon is >retreating. Nope. "Retreating" always refers to the Pokemon paying its "Retreat Cost" (printed on the card) and going back to the bench. No Trainer cards required. However, some Trainer cards allow you to bypass those rules and do exactly what is printed on the Trainer card. So, yes, you can "Switch" your Asleep Pokemon or "Scoop Up" your paralyzed Pokemon... etc. >It also says "When your Active Pokémon goes to your Bench(whether it is >retreated or got there some other way)." Is the "other way" refering to a >trainer card like switch. exactly! Brian Brokaw
