Since you cannot play the game without at least 1 Basic Pokemon card in your first 7 cards, you must re-shuffle your deck and draw 7 new cards. In order to keep the game fair (make people use plenty of Basic Pokemon and not just really powerful Trainer or Evolution cards), your opponent gets the option of drawing BONUS cards if you get a Mulligan. Personally, I use no fewer than 12 Basic Pokemon in a 60 card deck. I still get mulligans every so often, but not so much that I worry about it. Brian Brokaw
