Dark Charizards second attack reads as follows "Continuous Fireball:
Flip a number of coins equal to the number of (F) Energy cards attached to
Dark Charizard. This attack does 50 damage times the number of heads.
Discard a number of (F) Energy cards attached to Dark Charizard equal to the
number of heads "  If there were 3 Fire energy attached to Dark Charizard at
the beginning of my turn and I was battling a 40 HP Pokemon.  Could I state
up front, prior to flipping that I only wanted to flip once (in effect
pulling my punches)  to avoid the possibility of overkill and loosing all
three of my energy to a flip of three heads?
Thanks for your attention.

Nope - Dark Charizard is a double edged sword.  He might to only 50 to a 120 HP Pokemon, or he might do 250 to a 30HP Pokemon.  You must flip all the coins, even if lethal damage has already been sustained.
