i have this problem getting in the way during the game

im not sure about it

anyways its about magmar's smokescreen

if i smoke screen during my turn and then in my opponent's turn he uses ninetail's FIRE BLAST

but b4 that he has to filp a coin

well if he gets a heads the attack works normal

but if he gets a TAILS and it fails must he still discard a fire energy for FIREBLAST?

Flipping a tails on Smokescreen will cancel all effects of attacks, but Fireblast's attack has a cost of discarding an energy when played. So, before you even flip to see if Smokescreen works, you have to discard the energy.
