Can you use a SWITCH trainer card to switch your paralyzed, asleep, > or confused Pokemon...since they can't retreat while in that state? You can use Switch (or your opponent can use Gust of Wind). Using a trainer card (or another Pokemon--like Dragonite) to move the sleeping/confused/paralyzed Pokemon is NOT the same thing as retreating. These cards make no stipulations about the current status of the Pokemon that they are returning to the bench, so they could care less. > 2. If Geodude continues to do 10 damage for every HEADS coin flip until > a TAILS is thrown, once the defending pokemon is knocked out does > Geodude continue attacking the new replaced defending pokemon? No. Check the back of your rule book in a section where it describes exactly what to do Step-by-Step during your attack. It reads: "Do any damage first,..." (here is where you flip until you get tails... if you get 3264 heads in a row, so be it.) "...then do any other effects, and finally, Knock Out any Pokemon that have damage greater than or equal to their Hit Points." So checking for K-O doesn't occur until AFTER damage is computed. > 3. Does DCE (double colorless energy) count as one or two cards for an > ENERGY REMOVAL trainer card (or for a SER)? ENERGY and ENERGY CARDS are two totally different things in Pokemon: DCE is 1 ENERGY CARD that produces 2 ENERGY. Energy Removal doesn't say squat about ENERGY, it just tells you to remove an ENERGY CARD. So yes, you may discard a DCE with Energy Removal (you do not need an SER). > 4. Yep. Totally correct. Attacks that inflict 100% Sleep are only 50% effective... (Sleep bites ;-) > 5. How many DCE's can be in a deck? Is it four, or does it not matter > for energy cards? Okay, think about the class of cards referred to as ENERGY CARDS. This includes: Fighting Energy, Fire Energy, Lightning Energy, Psychic Energy, Grass Energy, Water Energy, Double Colorless Energy, A Buzzapped Electrode, ( i hope that i am not missing any in this list). Okay, now think about which of those ENERGY CARDS are BASIC ENERGY CARDS: Only Fighting, Fire, Lightning, Psychic, Grass, and Water Energy. So of those original 8, only 6 of them are BASIC ENERGY CARDS. You are allowed to have a maximum of 4 copies of any card. The only exception is BASIC ENERGY CARDS. Since DCE is NOT a BASIC ENERGY CARD, then it doesn't fall under this exception and you are stuck with a max. of 4. Thanks very much for the clear and specific questions! Brian Brokaw
