Regardless of the original nature of the attack you were TRYING to use, a confused monster that fails it's flip will attack itself with an attack that has no specials other than 20 damage. Weakness and Resistance still apply however. Even if the attack move would normally do no damage (like Kangaskhan's Fetch), a failed confusion flip will cause 20 damage to the pokemon. Brian Brokaw
