If you can play > it, are you required to play it or can you opt to have your opponent > mulligan? (It would suck to have your only "basic" knocked out in the first > turn so you might want to mulligan!) I think you are turned around a little bit on what "mulligan" means. When someone has a "mulligan", they have no basic Pokemon in THEIR hand. So, when you get a "mulligan" that is generally a bad thing... Ok, here are the rules concerning Clefairy Doll and Mysterious Fossil in your opening hand: While in your hand, these two cards are TRAINER CARDS. So, they do NOT count as "Basic Pokemon" when checking whether you have a Mulligan or not. If you have no Basic Pokemon Cards, and only have Clefairy Doll or Mysterious Fossil cards in your hand, you definitely have a Mulligan, and you MUST reshuffle your deck and draw 7 new cards. (your opponent may take 2 bonus cards if they do not also have a mulligan). However, you can PLAY these TRAINER CARDS at ANY TIME you can play a Basic Pokemon Card. So, YES, you may play Clefairy Doll or Mysterious Fossil during game setup as either your Active Pokemon or one of your Benched Pokemon. Hope this helps, Brian Brokaw
