For example, you will notice that there are NO "evil" Basic Pokemon. Charmander is just "Charmander" (NOT "evil Charmander") for example. So, "evil Charmeleon" MUST evolve from "Charmander". In fact, it says this on the card... of course it is in Japanese. However, all of the 2nd Stage evolution cards evolve from "evil" 1st Stage evolutions (NOT from normal evolutions from other sets.) This is also stated on the card. So, "evil Charizard" will ONLY evolve from "evil Charmeleon". Look closely at your Team Rocket evolution cards. You will learn what the Japanese text for "Bad / Evil" looks like and you should be able to "read" the text that describes who that Pokemon evolves from. Brian Brokaw
