I'm just curious really, since I'm much more of a player than a collector. I
work at a Toys 'R Us, and saw the the Gym Leader expansion come off the truck yesterday. Why aren't these 1st editions? Do only some parts of the country get those?  Thanks!

This is a mystery to us all.  Well, all of us except those who work at WotC.  Seems that they stocked up all the Wizards of the Coast stores with cases and cases.  I know both local stores here got 10 cases of first edition each.  All the other stores in the area got a total of 3 boxes each.  It pretty much stinks because they are completely blowing the idea of first edition.  Like it was with Jungle, first edition is supposed to be for those collectors and players who get it the week or so it comes out - a collecting bonus for buying so quickly.  Since Fossil, though, it's been hit or miss when they realized the cards were selling at a premium the day they came out.  Frankly I think it is wrong, but that's just my opinion - I don't run WotC.
