I have heard this rumor before, but only once
and it has never been substantiated. I am sure
if we asked wizards we would get a :
DO YOU THINK WE ARE CRAZY TO STOP PRINTING MONEY LIKE WE ARE?
(this has been their response to questions about pokemon to date ;-)

btw, to head off your next emails (probably),
it looks grim that Wizards will exactly mimic the Fossil
expansion from the japanese set. At one point, supposably,
wizards said they will hold back Mew and release it as
a promo card only! ugh... this will suck.  i can handle
promo jungle pikachu, but a promo that is NOT available
via boosters will be expensive to play with...
