The only official word from WOTC about BS-2 is that it will be released
in the "first quarter of 2000".  This means between January 2000 to the
end of March 2000.  An unofficial word from a large distribution company
slated BS-2 for the end of January 2000.

Base Set 2 will be comprised of Base set and Jungle set cards.
We don't believe that there will be any new cards, but many of the
re-released cards will be changed slightly. At the very least they 
will include expansion symbols, and many of them may have their
"text" changed to help clarify game rules, etc.

Base Set 2 was never released in Japan.  Since they are all the same
cards already out, there is nothing to directly compare it to from
Japan.
