An upside-down pokeball is a sure sign of a counterfeit. good catch. unfortunately, some areas of the country are rampant with counterfeit cards. Pokemon is too darn lucrative for con-artists to stay away from. Brian Brokaw ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Tuesday, November 23, 1999 7:53 PM Subject: A Way Identify Counterfeits I've been through a few of the archived Q&A's and haven't found this info about Counterfeit cards, so I'm writing in myself. A few weeks ago, a friend and I were comparing Pokémon cards (two First Edition Lickitungs from the Jungle set). I had seen that particular Lickitung before and thought it looked funny, so I'd brought in mine (which I know was real, since I'd gotten it in an official WOTC pack). First off, her card was blurrier. I know this is common in counterfeits. However, when we turned the cards over, the Pokéball on the back of her card was upside-down! I knew then that her card was definitely counterfeit. Or did WOTC screw up somehow? I doubt it, but ya never know... --Stephanie vulpixNriachu@aol.com
