Maybe you can trade for it instead of buying the starter.

But, the Starter is the ONLY place to currently find Machamp in a pack.
And it is ALWAYS 1st Edition.  (No unlimited Machamps.)

But this is one marketing ploy that I actually appreciate...  If all collectors and
players would start off by purchasing the Starter Deck, (and READING the
rules) I would be WAY less busy in the Q&A section of the PoJo :-)
The Starter deck is the single BEST way for new players to learn the game.
