This is an email thread from Takotchi (a great guy who participates pretty heavily in his local chapter of the Pokemon TCG League and is kind enough to send me information about it): Subject: Re: Fossil Trainers Date: Monday, September 27, 1999 3:53 PM ------------------------------------- As for the League stuff, here are all the things the Gym Leader gets (to my knowledge): Trainer Deck A: This is a fighting deck that has an altered back. Instead of a navy blue border on back, it is red. Across the backs of the cards is "TRAINER DECK A" in red. The only special card in it is a non-Edition 1 non-premium Machamp card. Other than that, it contains normal cards. Trainer Deck B: This is a water deck that has an altered back. My guess is it is the same as Trainer Deck A, except it actually says "TRAINER DECK B". It contains cards from the Fossil expansion. PlusPowers: A full card box (like the ones from Wizards of the Coast you can buy) of nothing but PlusPowers. They are exactly the same as any other PlusPower. You get one at 100, 200, 300, and 400 points. Promo Pikachu: A full card box of the 3D-style Pikachu promotional cards. These are the same as the ones mistakenly put in Jungle Edition 1 boosters, but it is NOT Edition 1. Prerelease Clefable: An envelope with about 30 or so Clefable prerelease cards. These are given out differently at each League. Mine gave them out during the Testing Seasons for getting 1000 points. They now give them out by a raffle (to get more tables). Getting all the "Helping the Gym Leader" circles stamped is also a popular way of getting them. Badges: However many the Gym Leader orders. These are just pins that have the League logo and the Badge symbol. There are 9 different ones: Boulder, Cascade, Thunder, Rainbow, Soul, Marsh, Volcano, Earth, and ???. You get them at 500 points, with the exception of the ??? one, which will be given away in a special way (I don't know how). TMs: A roll of stickers that are affixed to the back of badge books at 700 and 900 points. They contain (lame) tips. There are 16 to collect, and you get a booster with each one. Activity Sheets: Kiddy-activity sheets. Word searches, usless trivia, things like that. Badge Books: Sold for $1 or $5. They hold points, TMs, and CC awards. CC Awards: Seals for completing the CC test. CC Tests: Certifed coach tests. Take a test on the obscure rules (not about the energy thing, however), and you get a seal that proves you can teach other people with proper skill. Here are some lesser-known items of the league: -------------------------------------------------- Annoying forms: I don't know much about these, but the Gym Leader must count who and how many people are at the league, how many badges given out, how many TMs, and all sorts of information and send it to Wizards. Gym Badge form: These are used for tournament organizing, but moreso to report to Wizards who has what badges, to add into the DCI info. DCI cards: You fill these out and get a free membership into the DCI. When they will post our stats, I don't know ;) T-Shirts: These are ugly yellow t-shirts that the gym leaders are supposed to wear (they say Gym Leader on front, Pokemon logo, energy symbols, etc). Aprons: All Books-A-Million employees get these to wear for the League, too. Stampers: Small stampers that make little green stars. They run out quickly, so Wizards ships a lot of them. TM Boosters: My store only gets blister-boosters, yet the ones with TMs are not in blisters. I'm pretty sure these are ones specifically for TMs, as they have horribly odds. I am the only one of 2 to get a premium card inside. That's all I can think of. My store has pretty much none of those, however. Why? The Gym Leader had a bunch of booster wrappers and other trash with the supplies, and it got dumped over the weekdays. :| However, I've seen all that stuff before. Remember, all Leagues are different... some don't get things, some get more, etc, etc.
