A couple of months ago a saw two Japanese pokemon cards I really liked. One was of Mariru ( who appared in the ``Pikachus summer vaction`` episode in Japan which I own on tape) and the other was of Togepi. I went back two weeks later to the card shop and opened the binder to claim the rare promo cards only to find two empty spots were they had been. A store employee told me that that card was brought from somebody in Japan and they didn`t know when they would get more. I later found out that the two cards were part of a set of promotional cards sold only in Japan. The set is supposedly called the ``Southern islands`` promo set. The set includes Mariru, Togepi, Lady-bu, Slowking, and some kind of alternate evolution of Oddish, all from Pikachus summer vacation and the upcoming pokemon Gold and Silver games. The cards I saw were sold for a whopping thirty dollars each and their was only one of each. If you have any info on this set or any of its cards please e-mail me back, I would really apriciate it. Thanks for your help and keep up the good work. Camilo ``The Rai-master`` ------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi. Most likely, those two cards you saw were from 2 issues of CoroCoro Comics magazine (a comic book from Japan). They had both a Togepi promo card and a Mariru promo card. I bought those issues (with the cards inside) for $6.10 each. (so, the tropical islands set are not the first prints for these pokemon) Brian Brokaw
