Dark Paladin
Wednesday

It's the Synchro Summoned Skull...on crack...and by that I mean it's Archfiend Zombie-Skull, a Synchro monster, who is Level 6, and of the Dark attribute, with 2500 attack, and 1200 defense...like Summoned Skull! Synchro Summon is made possible by Plaguespreader Zombie and 2 or more non-Tuner Zombie-type monsters.

For the plus side, this guy sports 2500 attack, which is great, and protects all Zombie-type monsters you control from card effects, another excellent and useful ability. Now, I really like this card, or I try to. Using one specific Zombie tuner...not the end of the world, but it does hurt a bit you have to use two other cards too.

Three monsters for 2500 attack and some added protection? Might be worthwhile, but then again, it might not. If you're playing Zombies, and plenty of you are, I really think if he works for you, go ahead and use him.

Today’s card up for review is Archfiend Zombie-Skull. Very interesting effect, and it’s a zombie, so those are pluses, but let’s take a look at the downsides. Have fun summoning him firstly. That really hurts that he is only a 6 star synchro, and you need to have Plague+2 zombies to make him. How on earth can you make this? If you have a way to bring him out, you will bring out other synchros over this guy. It just isn’t worth all of the resources to summon him. Sure zombies can summon like no other, but I would rather make a Goyo, Revived King, or Doomkaiser if I am going for a 6 star. His effect is solid, but go with the better choices out there

Archfiend Zombie Skull ...

Has anyone else noticed the lack of actual Fiend type Synchro monsters ... the ones that SHOULD be wind up being Zombies ... I'm just saying, is all ...

Anywho ... AZ here is a pretty good monster. 2500 ATK and an effect that protects all Zombie type monsters (including himself (natch)) from being destroyed by effects. Excellent. 2500 ATK is a tough nut to crack in battle by most monsters, so only your opponent's best can get the job done, and then they run the risk of slamming smack dab into a Mirror Force or something ... which everyone hates. Of course ... AZ can just be bounced, which everyone ALSO hates, but really - pretty much almost EVERY monsters can be bounced these days, so we can't hold that against him. His only real drawback is the specifics of his fusion summoning. You need that Plague Spreader Zombie, but since that's such a great Tuner that everyone who has one probably plays with it anyway, that's not a detriment. And plus u need a Zombie. So clearly, unless u play a Zombie Deck or just happen to run a whole bunch for whatever your reasons are, then AZ aint for you. No need to waste space in your extra deck. But if you've got Plague Spreader and at least 5 to 7 other Zombies floating around, then I recommend this guy. At 6 stars, this may be your 2nd best level 6 Synchro after Goyo Guardian.

Archfiend Zombie-Skull... do I need to go on and on about how bad this card is? For budget players, Plaguespreader Zombie isn't such an easy card to come by, so that alone hits players if they dont have or cant get the tuner required for it. The other draw back is you need 2 or more non-Tuner zombie type monsters. 2 or more, this is just bad. You have only two monster combinations you can do to pull this off, first would be Plaguespreader and 2 level two monsters, or Plaguespreader, 1 level three monster and 1 level one monster. Last time I checked the only zombie type monster basically anyone runs outside of Plaguespreader of course, is Spirit Reaper. Still missing a level to get it out. Now ok, yes its effect is decent and yes 2500 attack is good. Archfiend Zombie-Skull gives away the only deck it is useful in. Skull Servants. The Lady in Wight protects any and all level 3 or below zombie type monsters you control from being destroyed in battle and being affected by spell or trap effects. Your last line of insurance is Zombie-Skull. It prevents them from being destroyed by card effects. This includes monsters, with monsters, spells and traps gone and not being able to destroy them in battle, you only have 2 targets on the field you can hit. The Lady in Wight and Archfiend Zombie-Skull. Both with really high stats, this makes Skull Servants quite powerful. However, even with Zombie-Skull, Skull Servants will still pretty much only be a tier 2 or tier 3 deck.
