Divine Grace-Northwemko
#SOVR-EN039

This card can only be Ritual Summoned with the Ritual Spell Card, "Ritual of Grace". When this card is Ritual Summoned, select a number of face-up cards on the field (except this card), up to the number of monsters you used for the Ritual Summon. While any of the selected cards are face-up on the field, this card cannot be destroyed by card effects.

Divine Grace-Northwemko

The email on this card today was a little vague, I am assuming we are reviewing Northwemko though. To start off with we have a level 7 LIGHT Spellcaster with 2700 ATK and 1200 DEF. Those are pretty good, as it can beat the stuffing out of Demise, teh best ritual monster as far as ATK points go. Ideally it would be a level 8 DARk, in order to fit in with Trade-In, Contract with the Abyss and Advanced Ritual Art, but this card will likely never see play so it is a moot point.

The effect is that it can only be Ritual Summoned by Ritual of Grace and sendingthe requisite stars to the graveyard. When it is Ritual Summoned, you select a number of cards on the field equal to the number of monsters you used for the Ritual Summon and those cards cannot be destroyed by card effects as long as Northwemko is on the field.

As this pertains to the Ritual Deck, you can use it to block the destructive effects of both Demise and Zorc, allowing you to have othe rmonsters on the field when you activated their effects without fear of losing them. I would rather have something like Reshef the Dark Being or something like that that will fit better intot he deck so you can use Trade-In and Advanced Ritual Art. I even think that the classic Black Luster Soldier would be better, as it can run down almost anything as well as being a level 8.

All in all it is a very powerful card, but not in any Ritual Deck that I can see being played. Even though the two Djinns are the perfect level for her, there are not enough level 7 Rituals that are any good to justify that. There is no denying that Northwemko is good, there just isn't really a place for her yet.

Today’s card up for review is Divine Grace Northwemko. It’s cool that they are making a new Ritual monster, but they could have made it half decent at least. Rituals are hard enough to use nowadays due to the amount of resources that you need tyo use to get them out, but this guys effect serves no purpose. Being vulnerable to destruction is cool, but this card will just get stomped on by the meta. Kalut/Honest/Caius/Raiza/Synchrons will eat this alive. Simply put, don’t think about using this.

Divine Grace - Northwemko ...

Ritual cards are kinda hard ... Do u focus on the effect? ... The ease of which to summon them? ... Aside from the brief stitch in time where people were going nutso with Advance Ritual Art and Demise ... Ritual Monsters have never been very good. Even Relinquished was overshadowed by his Fusion cousin - Thousand Eyes Restrict. So now the question becomes - "Has the scape of the game changed any since those days that would make a Ritual Monster ... even one with a "good" effect ... worthwhile?"

Well the game aint getting any slower. The introduction of Synchro monsters all but killed Fusions, even with the million and 1 shortcuts THEY have available for them. (do u even REMEMBER a card called "Polymerization"? ... yeah, neither do I) So now for Rituals, the spell card that lets u fetch back a Ritual spell from the graveyard and also take a level 7 or lower Ritual monster from your deck is custom built for Northwemko. Plus we also have those 2 new fiends (1 3-star and 1 4-star) which are a perfect fit for Northwemko, that can be dispatched from the graveyard to be used for a Ritual Summon, AND give the ritual monster an extra added effect. How nice.

But what does that mean for Northwemko as a card? ... Well at level 7, she can't be traded in if she turns dead in hand. With 2700 ATK, she's strong, but can't outfight the standard 2800 level 8 punchers. And her effect of targeting things on the field and "latching onto them" to prevent her own destruction is interesting, but it wont save her for too too long. Your best bet would be to latch on to maybe a field spell later in the game after your opponent already spent their heavy storm and MST and are out of sure fire ways to clear it off. That'll give the old girl some extra turns to play around.

She's ok ... but even with with the new investment in the Ritual Game, she's just too slow to be useful, and even if she DOES ever get to the field, she's not impactful enough to have been worthwhile.

Divine Grace - Northwemko, its nice to see some new Ritual support. Its a level 7 Light monster with a wopping 2700 attack and a low defense of 1200. When its ritual summoned you select a number of face up cards on the field equal to the number of monsters you used for the Ritual summon. While those cards are face up on the field this card cannot be destroyed by card effects. This can be, somewhat useful against cards like Mirror Force, Torrential Tribute and so on. Using Advanced Ritual Art also counts towards the number of cards you use for the Ritual Summon of Northwemko as well, which is pretty cool. While her effect is pretty solid and attack points are high, I don't think that a ritual based deck will do anything big this format.
