Dark Paladin
Thursday

This week I originally had planned to only look at monsters from Raging Battle, but today I threw in a Trap Card, as the Dark Magician lover in me couldn't help...Overwhelm, a Counter Trap of the Secret Rare origin...

Activate only when you control a Level 7 or higher monster that was tribute summoned. Negate the activation of a Trap Card, or Effect Monster's effect, and destroy that card. It's a really simple card, Now you see why this could work for someone using Dark Magician, or Blue Eyes White Dragon...

It does have the nasty stipulation of "having to have been tribute summoned..." but it will surely surprise your opponent, as a Dark Magician or Blue Eyes Deck also probably would, but it can really save you too, I keep one in the side-deck against Effect-heavy Decks and the like. If you're trying either of the above Decks, or something like that, give it a try.

General Zorpa Overwhelm

Well, I have been out of this COTD thing for w hile as y computer has died and I am actually writing thi in class. Ssshh! No one tell! Anyway, today's card is Overwhelm, a Counter Trap card. It has a very nice effect, as it will negate a Trap Card or Effect Monster's effect if you have Tribute Summoned a Level 7 or higher monster. As these are the things that usually kill these high level monsters on paper at least it sounds good.

If we look closer however, you do have to Tribute Summon the monster, meaning tht Synchros are not applicable and you cannot use it with such cards as Beast King Barbaros and Fusilier Dragon the Dual Mode Beast. It does help with things that require Tribute Summon, but nothing else. It does have a very cool picture though.

Overwhelm ...

This one is easy. It's crap.
If i need to explain to u all the reasons "why", u shouldn't be playing this game.

Don't believe me? I DARE u to try playing this garbage of a Secret Rare. I bet u'll even lose at the opening coin toss.

Overwhelm, an interesting counter trap card. You can only activate it if you control a level seven or higher monster that was tribute summoned. If you can meet that requirement, you can negate the activation of a Trap Card or Effect monsters' effect and destroy that card. There are only a few good level seven or higher monsters you can easily tribute summon, and the best one I can think of is Evil Hero Malicious Edge. Its a level seven monster that can be tribute summoned with 1 monster if the opponent controls a monster. The way I see it, Malicious Edge is your best bet for using Overwhelm because its the easiest way to meet its requirements. Another somewhat easy way to meet Overwhelms requirements is with monsters like Kaiser Sea Horse and Double Coston.

The card has a pretty awesome effect but the cost, well you need a deck thats based on tribute summoning high level monsters.
