Dark Paladin
Friday

Trap of Darkness closes our week, which is quite the interesting Trap Card. When you have 3000 or less Lifepoints, you can activate this card by paying 1000 Lifepoints. This card becomes the same as the Normal Trap card you select.

I don't really see a problem with this card, I just think that if you wanted to reuse or have another copy of the Trap in question, why not just use another one of said card? The restriction as when you can use it sucks too, so it could end up being a dead card in your Hand.

General Zorpa Trap of Darkness

What is worse than one Crush Card Virus? 2 Crush Card Virus of course! That is what this card does, although I must admit, it does not work very well. It is very situational, only being able to be activated at certain times. I admit, the right card like Torrential Tribute, Mirror Force or Crush Card Virus could be game-breaking. However, you can only use it on a Normal Trap, which limits it's usefulness.

The rather steep cost of 1/3 of your remaining lifepoints (you can only play it when you have 3000 or less) is also not enough to justify it. Mask of Darkness is a far superior card, as it is a monster that can block attacks, gets you ANY trap for FREE and can be used with all of the DARK support.

This card does have it's uses, as if you need the trap RIGHT NOW, you can use it. Pretty much only in a losing situation would I use this card, and we don't pack cards in our main decks for when we lose. Maybe it could be used in a Trap Based Burn deck or something like that, but even then it's uses are still few and far between.

Todayʼs card up for review is Trap Of Darkness. This card has so much potential to be so brutal. First thing that comes to mind for me is to use 5-6 Solemn Judgments in a game. How could you not like that? Or you can get a second Mirror Force, Torrential Tribute, Crush Card Virus, Trap Dustshoot, Mind Crush etc. The list can go on forever haha. Only thing is that you have to get to the 3k or lower requirement for activation. It wonʼt be hard if you are using Solemn Judgment main boarded, or you are getting beat down by your opponent etc. I would recommend picking three of these up. Very fun card!

Its the Diamond Dude for Normal Trap Cards. Trap of Darkness can be anything thats in your graveyard and can be used at almost any time. It is great for many situations. Its like having another Mirror Force or Crush Card Virus in your deck. Since almost everyone is playing Solemn Judgment, getting to 3000 life points and below is an easy task. If an opponent has Dust Tornado and destroys a trap at the end phase, Trap of Darkness is there to be the back up just in case.

So basically your life points have to be between 1001 and 3000 to activate. Paying the 1000 isn't so bad when you won't lose any cards in hand. Also you do not have to tribute a Dark 1000 ATK monster for Crush Card Virus. Trap of Darkness isn't a bad card at all. It is very useful in many situations. It may not be a big card right now, but I think that it will be a cool tech card in the future.
