Dark Paladin
Tuesday

Cyber Dragon has finally found a way onto the Ban List, as it is now Semi-Restricted. I have no problem with this, not at all, but I see this being one of those things that doesn't really hurt Cyber Dragon, and something (more) probably should have been done to Cyber Dragon several formats ago.

That being said, and those points aside, Cyber Dragon is still as awesome as ever. Cyber Dragon can still be Special Summoned as long as you control no monsters and your opponent controls one or more.
Tribute it in the same turn for a Monarch or anything else.

Even people playing hardcore Cyber Dragon Decks aren't really hurt by this move. It just means you need a Fusion substitute to play Cyber End Dragon now...the Light Hex Fusion perhaps? This just adds a little balance to a very powerful card.

Cyber Dragon

This one's gonna be short.  Sorry, but there's not much to say on this.

Cyber Dragon use was dropping to it being a 2-of or less anyway.  This only hurts those who were actually trying to summon Cyber End Dragon -- and in the competitive circuit, that's a grand total of 0 players.

This just forces you to play one other card instead of a triple set of Cybers, IF your deck runs Cybers at all.

This is one of the limitations that had me puzzled. I am not running Cyber Dragon any more. And as far as I can tell, he is out of favor with pretty much most players, instead going for the Dark Armed Dragon for their Special Summoned monster needs. I can only hope that this means that we will be getting Cyber-Power Cards like Chimeratech Fortress Dragon soon. The only decks that this hurts are Gadgets (which is negligible) and PCM (which was pretty much dead at Raiza being banned.

If the creators of the game wanted to control gadgets, they could have done a better job, and PCM is just too far gone to really do anything about. Certainly mysterious, but I wouldn't run more than 2 in a deck anyway.

I suppose somebody has a machine fetish...

Cyber Dragon is a card that really impacted the metagame when it was launched. I'm honestly surprised that they're just now limiting it to 2. It's an amazing card that reserves a spot in almost any deck I build.

First off, it's a 5 Star - Light - Machine. Being Light if great as this card should be quite devastating with the upcoming set. Machine of course means it has plenty of support, including two fusions based purely on it. It sports 2100 ATK, which is enough to take out most non-tribute monsters, though Monarchs still destroy this. It's effect is quite simple, which I've discovered is what makes great cards great.

- When this was released, I assumed this effect was much like The Fiend Megacyber's, only slightly easier. When I actually played it, I released it was a heckuva lot easier. Being able to special summon this card so easily makes for some impressive second turns (Cyber Dragon and Don Zaloog/Spirit Reaper/Breaker). The biggest downside is that you can't control any monsters, making Scapegoat a bit more tedious with timing.

Having 2100 ATK allows you to summon this guy with confidence. You're going to kill just about anything your opponent may have out, and chances are he's going to have to Smash/Fissure it just to get it off the field. If you run a tribute heavy deck, this can can allow you one tribute the same turn you draw it. There are just so many combos available with this card, it's quite ridiculous.

This card is just plain great and limiting this to two per deck won't do much to stop it's playability. Very few decks will really be hurt from this, and the worst it will do is stop the Cyber End Dragon OTK. Still if you have this card, put it in your deck.

Traditional: 5/5 (It's a Light that can SS itself. Definately good)
Advanced: 4.5/5 (Pretty much any deck spare burn can benefit from this)

I've noticed a lot of new cards being based on CD's art. Take a look at a few of the new PTDN cards.

Cyber Dragon
Finally, Cyber Dragon has reach it's limit and is now on the new Banned List, but is only semi-limited (Damn It!). This card was the card to have a few years ago and now you can just get them either in the Zane Truesdale Duelist Packs or mostly the Cyber Dragon Tins. It's pretty good today, but there are so many other choices and if only it we're a Dark monster, it would be REALLY good, but it isn't so let's see the pros of this card and how you should or might use it now:
  1. Machine-Type so you can use it in the Chimeratech OTK deck.
  2. A free special summon to the field from hand if you control no monsters and opponent controls at least one monster.
  3. A decent 2100 ATK for a free special summon monster from the hand.
  4. It's free special summon ability allows you to use it as Tribute fodder for Monarchs or Jinzo, or just simply summon another decent monster.
If you duelists need anything such as advice or deck fixes, feel free to contact me at pathoon@aol.com. Thank you for reading!

P.S. Cyber Dragon will be on the "Cards/Decks on the Rise/Fall" list soon.

Traditional: 3.25/5 (Light-Attribute allows it to be playable)
Advanced: 3.75/5 (All reasons stated above)
Art: 3.25/5 (Konami could've done better, but it's still good)
Pwii Ok, continuing on banlist week, is THE most popular card ever (In advanced at least). This card has been splashed EVERYWHERE. Because of that, some people have taken an unreasonable disliking to it. What am I talking about? Cyber Dragon of course!

Cyber Dragon was originally released in the pack Cybernic Revoloution as a super rare. I wasn't good back then, and I thought it was awesome. Then when I started doing Pojo.com and being aware of the metagame, I thought it wasnt all that good. I generally assumed it was a dead draw for quite a few turns. Now, I realize It's good in some decks (like my ladd turbo), but suck in others (like 6s). I can't automatically say it's not good in a monarch, because I havent played it. But it should NOT be in a first draft of a deck (unless it's something like Chimeratech OTK). After a few testings, if you find your field is left wide open quite often, then add a REASONABLE amount of copies. As I said before, I haven't played it that much in a monarch deck, or even tried splashing it, so my opinion might be TOTALLY wrong. But based on theory, I give you this:

3.5/5 all.
Ex` Tuesday March 4th: Cyber Dragon

Today we're reviewing Cyber Dragon which recently has been Restricted to 2 per deck. Now many people knew from before that Cyber Dragon defined 2 consecutive formats which made him an expensive little bugger until better alternatives and a streak of reprints reduced his playability by a small margin. But why you ask? What made a card that hardly sees play as compared to before restricted?

My ideas would come from future support of other sets because his effect and glorious 5 Star symbol represents something to come (after all, this is my idea and I will not cram it in your heads >_<).

Regardless, Cyber Dragon is still a good card and near staple in any Agressive Deck and should see the same level, if not more play in the new format

Traditional: 4/5 (One of the Best Lights to grace this Game)

Advanced: 3.5/5 (Still good and an enabler for many combos)

Until Next Time
