Dark Paladin

Divine Knight Ishzark...another decent card who doesn't fit the environment, and yes, the majority of that is due to the 2300 attack on a one tribute monster.

Don't get me wrong, Ishzark has some things going for him.  Light monsters are good, Warriors are just as good, and removing your opponent's monsters when you destroy them is a good thing.  Dimension Fusion being Banned is good.  However, back to Square One, 2300 attack is not good.

Honestly, we still have too many ways to revive monsters from the Removed From Play Zone, that I just don't think Ishzark is a good idea.

Ratings:

Traditional:  3/5  A Light-Warrior, and he removes things?  Could be an anti-Chaos card.

Advanced:    X-.25/5  Where X equals each card that your opponent plays

with 2400 or more attack that is one tribute and any card they play to rescue monsters from being removed.

This card's jank...but it's not absolutely horrible jank either.

2300 ATK isn't that great for one Tribute, and being able to remove monsters a card destroys is half-decent (Lesser Fiend saw some play previously.)  What this guy has going for him is that he's Light-type, and thus can gain interaction from Honest.  Being able to attack over AND REMOVE Heraklinos or Gyzarus can be significant in shutting down an opponent's Premature Burial/Monster Reborn hopes for later.

It's not great, but it's not bottom of the barrel.

2/5
General Zorpa Divine Knight Ishzark

Well, he tries really hard. 2300 ATK and being a LIGHT Warrior certainly doesn't help nor hurt him, but the level 6 does although he has a decent defense. His effect mirrors that of Dark Magician of Chaos and D.D. Crazy Beast in that he removes from play anything that he destroys in battle.

This effect has it's uses, particularly against Sangan and other graveyard themed cards. If he were level 5 I think he might have seen some play in a Reasoning deck packing Honest. Since so many cards use the graveyard these days, it is really a good strategy to negate that advantage for another player. If he had something else to his effect, like when he is summoned you remove a card in an opponent's graveyard from play, then he might see sporadic play, but as it is Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer, Dark Magician of Chaos and Banisher of the Radiance are far better at doing that.

The Card

This card is not that bad. If only it had 200 more attack. Then it would get over jinzo's, Monarchs, and Prime Material Dragon. The effect is not bad at all and this guy can demolish anything on the field. It can remove things like sangan, Gladiator beasts, Lightsworns, and Darks.  Which means no searching for sangan, less Darius targets, less lightsworns to bring out Judgment Dragon, and not enough darks to bring out Dark Armed Dragon. This card isn't that bad, but Prime Material Dragon turns out to be a much better choice. Prime materials effect is more useful, even though this card does have a lot of potential.

Advanced

With Gladiator beasts, Lightsworn, and Dark Armed Dragon being one of the top decks with Monarchs, this card isn't so bad this format. It can do some great damage, but it has a bad match up against monarchs, which would destroy this card. If you can keep this out against a Lightsworn deck and a Dark Armed Dragon deck, you can most likely win. You can probably combo this up with Prime Material to keep this safe, and run some honests to keep this guy protected and run a whole Light theme to it. You can end up doing a lot of weird things with this card and how you make the build around it. The problem is that having him out on the field alone he is prone to anything and a quick Gyzarus, goes your chance of making him amazing and win the game for you. It would be an amazing lock with prime material. You would also use triple solemns, like every deck is running to protect him as well. This card has potential somewhere to be side deckable or maindeckable with the right build for him. Worst match up is against a monarch deck. Against GB it wouldn't be so bad, because you run Primes when running this card.

Traditional

Bad here.

Combo's

Like I said Prime+this card is good. Using honests to protect him.

Suggestions

Try to make this guy work, because he isn't that bad. Test around and try to do what works. He may end up pretty good. This card just needs testing which no one does anymore, because the decks are already established.

Divine Knight Ishark

Let me start by saying that I'm almost always biased regarding Warrior type cards. It's my favorite theme by far. I promise to try not to be biased.

DKI is a card that once again, has that potential for being fantastic. Just 150 more ATK points and he would have been incredible useful to any Warrior deck. Heck, most Light decks could have made good use of him.

Unfortunately, he's at a lackluster 2300 ATK, which is enough to kill most anything nontribute, but it still falls to Monarchs and Jinzo. The ability to remove monsters from play that this thing kills is pretty decent. It will put a dent in the game plan of most decks, but really doesn't affect DAD terribly. I only wish the effect read "Any monster this card battles with is removed from play". That would have given it some suicide potential atleast.

In the end, it's just not nearly as good as it could have been, but for what it is, it's alright. Not going to be breaking the meta anytime soon though.

Traditional: 2/5 It is a Light
Advanced: 2.5/5 It's alright, but nothing fantastic

The attack value of the card reduces the playability of this card.  2300 is 100 shy of competitive.  The reduction in attack does somewhat  “balance” the effect, but it will also keep it in the binder.
