Dimension Wall

I've seen this card used in a few off-the-wall Burn decks; it's a Cylinder against a direct attack, but does nothing against close battles. This could see some play in no-monster Chain Burn, because EVERY attack is a direct shot against you in that build and it gives you a shot at reflecting some huge damage. It doesn't help that many other deck types, as most decks that want to deal damage in response to an attack will just stick with the one Cylinder and be done with it. If you need more than that, this is the card for you.

Closing out the week, we look at Dimension Wall, an interesting Trap that is also a -1, but could be a card that might win you a game.

In short, if you were to take Battle Damage from an attack, this card transfers that damage to you, but only if this isn't a direct attack...meaning that your opponent must be dealing you damage to a monster.

This card would be so much better if it didn't have that little stipulation, but we could talk all day about what could have been. Is this card worth it, probably not, but it could be useful in a pinch.

This card does put the question, "When could your opponent attack without a monster?"

Basically, this is Magic Cylinder. Except that it isn't restricted and if your opponent has effects that key of battle damage, they go off.

Oh, and it doesn't stop monsters from being destroyed.

This is an inferior reprint. Yugioh has far too many already and will gain more as time goes by.

Outside of a burn deck/chain strike deck this card has no true application. In many ways Magic Cylinder is better and people still do not play it. Cylinder usually means game and stops an attack. This requires us to take damage after all is said and done and thus is not as useful as Cylinder. Still 4/5 in a burn deck. 1/5 in anything else.

How many of you expect Chain Burn to be played? Probably a lot of you; you should be expecting it. Dimension Wall is one of the cards in the deck with the most damage potential. During my testing, Chain Burn still wins regardless of how big the monster is when it runs into Dimension Wall. All you’re going for is damage and adding a Step on the Chain.

 

With Gadgets vs. Chain Burn: The search effect from the Gadgets counts a link in the Chain. Therefore, you’re giving Chain Burn an extra Chain Link to work with. I have won on occasion during testing against Chain Burn. Honestly though, the game is best won with the Side-Deck most of the time.

 

Last Word: Dimension Wall is an exceptional card built for Burn. Play 3 of them in your Chain Burn deck. Sure they don’t stop attacks, but it gives you an excuse to leave your field clear. No monsters needed to defense from damage. ^_^

I’ll be going over the final results of my testing in my blog. You may or may not like my take on the metagame. That’s OK, I’m not writing my results to impress anybody. Tried and true testing results that no one else will tell you about on a website. I promise you. 

 
Turkeyspit Dimension Wall

If not for Chain Strike decks, I wonder if the majority of duelists would even know that this card existed.

Basically, it's a quasi-Magic Cylinder.

While it doesn't negate the attack or protect your monster, it does transfer any Battle Damage you would normally have received from an attack, back to your opponent.

So when your opponent nukes your Cyber-Dragon with Zaborg the Thunder Monarch, and attacks you directly....ouch.

So why doesn't this card see play? Well, it's a -1, right? And aren't we all told that -1's are "Bad Things", and should be avoided?

Um..yeah.

What this card has going for it is the surprise factor. Sure, it doesn't protect your monster, or kill your opponent's, but what it does is hit them where it hurts (literally), and that is, their Life Points.

Most opponent's won't hesitate in attacking into your face-down S/T cards, so long as they have Card Advantage. They figure that if they already have a +1 or +2 on you, then a simple 1-for-1 Sakuretsu Armor or Mirror Force will only simplify the game, which works to their favour. But imagine their surprise when instead, they take all the Battle Damage instead of you!

Mix this card into a deck that runs a lot of Brain Controls or Soul Exchanges, so that your LPs are protected, and yet you preserve your opponent's monsters for your own nefarious purposes.

Burn decks also love this card because it helps to replace much of the Stall they lost in the recent banlist, and gives them much needed defense in this Aggro-heavy format.

As a bonus, since the card transfers "Battle Damage", and not "Effect Damage", anti-Burn cards like "Des Wombat" and "Barrel Behind the Door" are useless against this card.

Where as this card isn't as splashable as say Sakuretsu Armor, I think it can be very competitive in a deck designed to benefit from it's unique effect.

2/5 - Only in a dedicated Burn deck.

3/5 - Dai Grepher and D.D. Warrior Lady in yet another cameo appearance. Funny that this card has nothing whatsoever to do with the Different Dimension...or Warriors...
