Dark Paladin
Wednesday

Today we look at an interesting Draw card, Veil of Darkness. It allows you to Draw an extra card if you Draw a Dark monster by sending the mentioned card to your Graveyard.

It isn't a bad Draw card...not at all. It's a Continuous Magic card, which is (and isn't) a down side, but my biggest problem with cards like these are, odds are you probably wanted or will need the card (in this case, monster), as opposed to just drawing a card.

I think we have things that do this better right now....namely cards like Card Trader.

Ratings:

Traditional: 1.5/5 No need here.

Advanced: 2.75/5

The First Hokage Veil of Darkness

This card is just a preview of what is coming at the end of January. When Phantom Darkness comes out as a set, I believe that this card will see some kind of play to dump Dark Monsters into the grave to bring out those big bad Dark Monsters such as Dark Armed Dragon... Just a hunch on my part.

Anyways, since Veil's full arsenal of weapons is not out yet, it's hard to rate this card. Not too many decks will use this card right now, but I suppose some could especially if you're running a lot of Dark Monsters.

But for right now, I'd place this card into your binder, wait a month, and see the potential of this card. Although, I am sure there will be a nice trap card waiting for all the people who want to jump on the Dark Monster bandwagon.

My ratings:

Advanced: 3/5 Too early to tell.
Traditional: 1/5
Art: 3.5/5

Veil of Darkness

Well here's a card that's actually much better than what most people give it credit for. It's a continuous (yay) spell that has a pretty decent effect.

 - There's only one effect, and as we've observed, simple is good most of the time. The effect lets you chuck a Dark monster you just drew to grab something else. Since the effect is optional, it doesn't hurt if you run plenty of darks

This really helps the Scourges, since about half of the deck is usually going to be dark. It really works well in D-Hero though, since every D-Hero I can think of off the top of my head is Dark. Honestly though, this shines in Traditional Format. In a Chaos Deck atleast a quarter of your cards are going to be Dark, and being able to chuck one for another card can mean game in more than one situation. It's not something you run in triplicate, but it's definately something you can maindeck and benefit from.

Outside of that stuff though, this card is pretty much crap. It's not very splashable at all, and is infact, pretty much useless unless you're going to be drawing atleast 25% Dark monsters.

Traditional: 3/5 Chaos gets a nice boost from this
Advanced: 1.5/5 Unless you basically construct a deck entirely for this.
