ExMinion OfDarkness
Celestial Transformation

Today we have a look at an interesting combo card.

Basically, it's a -2 unless you can do something with it. You get to Special Summon an Angel...that probably won't do any good attacking...and is destroyed at the end of the turn. You can still tribute off that monster, use it to pay for a cost, etc, etc...but when you're giving up two cards in hand and not even guaranteed to get a return on your investment, that's typically not a good card to run.

However, it does have some combo potential (I'll let the other CotDers take care of that, I don't know any good combos it does off-hand) so it's not totally useless.

Dark Paladin
Today we look at Celestial Transformation, but I don't really see a use for this either.

Pros:

Special Summon a Fairy Type monster from your hand Celestial Transformation is a 1 for 1 (the card for the monster) Quickplay

Cons:

Monster loses half the attack power
Monster is destroyed at End Phase
Card becomes a -1

Sorry, there really isn't a use for this. It may be useful in a pinch, for a turn, but no.

Ratings:

1.5/5 all around

Art: 4/5

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

Celestial Transformation:
Hmmm. Intwiguing.

A sneaky way to get something onto the field. No Fairy's jump to the mind immediately that are useful on summon, but someone will find something. It isn't great for doing a sneaky attack to the opponent, but it can drop a defender in the way, or allow you to get up to a Tribute with those lovely Fairy-Type "When you tribute me, have something nice" monsters from DCR.

Advanced: 3/5

Share and enjoy,

Celestial Transformation

Special summoning are always nice. They allow for tribute fodder generally, and that’s where this cards uses come into play.

I suppose this cards main use is with Voltanis or the Majestic Mechs, but even then that’s a 3 card investment for a tribute monster. You’d be better off with Brain Control generally. Still, themed support is always great, and I’m sure there are other combo’s that I’ve missed, like Megamorph and the like.

MikeJ Celestial Transformation

One of the best Fairy-type ( aka Angels ) support ever to be released in the game for good reasons since not only can it bring out a Fairy in the battle phase ( except damage step ) but since its a quick-play its chainable plus makes a surprise attack with Airknight ( Greatest Fairy IMO ) on a sheep token then gain a card . Now this card really shines with Inferno Reckless Summoning since now that 1 Fairy brings out the whole family of Fairys or bring out big things like Agent of Saturn or Guardian Angek Joan.

Traditional Format > 1.5/5
Advance Format > 5/5: Fairy deck.... Obv Duh
Artwork > 3/5: Just like the Mechs its those weird Evangelion type Angels >.> makes me want to qoute Evangelion lines again

Pippin Celestial Transformation

Great support for a faultering deck type.

A quick play spell is always a suprise to an opp who thinks they have things shut down with Jinzo or Royal Decree out. This actually has some very good combos.

1 that springs to mind and is begging to be played is Infernal Reckless Summon. Since you halve the attack when it is summoned, any fairy with 3000 or less atk could come direct from your hand and trigger IRS. So summon Goryu with 1450 attack, trigger IRS, special summon two 2900atk trampling manly fairies that do not go away at the end of the turn. Agent Saturn might be nice too, depending on your current LP status.

Any of the Majestic mechs would be good for this (except the 4 star, he is good when you need to light a pilot light)

Bottom Line:
Traditional: 3/5 - not a lot of fairy play here, but would help any of the few that do play them.
Advanced: 3.5/5 - More people playing fairies, always looking for another special summon.

Art: 3/5 - He is no Chuck Norris descending from the heavens, but not bad.

Until next time, *starts singing* This is the Ultimate Showdown...

Satisfaction
Today's card made me come out to talk again. The only reason why is to tell people how this card does NOT work in the current meta.

A magic for fairies that allow them to swarm on the field isn't so bad but because it dies and attack is cut in half makes this somewhat of a waste.

The combo some people saw with this is creating a massive field of fairies by activating Inferno Reckless Summoning. Yes this can be good usually with the powerful fairies but this is extremely situational and you are losing a card after all.

The things I would bring out with Inferno and Celestial would either be Mech Goryu or Ohka and Airknight Parshath. Mostly the Mechs are for the beat down for major damage and the Airknight is to get a plus one after all of that complicated card wasting.

I wouldn't recommend this card because it does not provide a really good purpose and you are wasting space and advantage.

Plus if you are willing to go a Fairy theme, a counter fairy deck is mostly the best choice.

Otaku

Celestial Transformation is a very versatile bit of Fairy support.  At first glance, it looks bad: in the long term, it’s minus two cards, and short term, its minus one… and maybe a half since it will let you Special Summon a Fairy at half ATK.  In a pinch, it can block an attack (maybe more depending on what you Summon), even against Jinzo and Royal Decree.  And of course, Special Summon a big enough Fairy with a good effect, and it’s an okay beatstick for a turn.

However, as always, there are combos to be had.  I am embarrassed: I am the one who selected the three previous promos for the week, and today’s CotD is a fan request someone passed me.  So why am I embarrassed?  No, not because of the performance of some of those promos, but because all one has to do is look up the rulings on this card to see some sweet combos for it.  Use Celestial Transformation on any Fairy with 3000 or less ATK (that you can Special Summon in this manner).  Respond to it with Inferno Reckless Summon.  Yes, it’s legal as Inferno Reckless Summon doesn’t check the ATK until the Monster is already in play, just like Bottomless Trap Hole can nail a Command Knight because of the self boosting effect.  So bring out two Airknight at full strength, get the draw off of them, and you’ve definitely generated advantage, even if you are attacking through an ever present Spirit Reaper.  Oh, and there is more: use your normal Summon on Tsukuyomi to flip the Monster you brought out with Celestial Transformation down, and you get to keep it (and it will have its normal ATK next turn.

Wanna get real crazy?  Go for a OTK deck, perhaps with occasional FTK potential.  Celestial Transformation into a Saturn – Agent of Judgment then activate Inferno Reckless Summon to get two more of them.  Drop Sanctuary of the Sky.  That’s four cards from hand.  If your remaining two are two burn Spells you can finish your opponent off right then and there (note: I am assuming use of Meteor of Destruction, Poison of the Old Man, and Ookazi).  1600 (at least) damage from the Spells, another 1600 from the first Saturn, 3200 from the second Saturn, and 6400 from the final Saturn for game, even if you had to use two copies of Upstart Goblin.  I can’t imagine it being reliable enough to be a problem as a FTKO.  Even as a OTK, there’s enough that can go wrong to keep it from becoming a major problem, or at least I hope so.  Still, it could be a very cool way to run the deck, and a great finishing blow that doesn’t have to involve Return from the Different Dimension.

Ratings

Traditional       : 1/5 – Unless something has changed, this is still the format of true FTK decks and CCCC decks.

Advanced        : 3.5/5 – While only for Fairy decks, I think we have a real winner here.  It can be a bad topdeck, but it has a decent “fall back” use most of the time and a truly great combo to work with it.
