Majestic Mech - Goryu

LOL, wannabe Ohka.

Okay...I think we can all agree Black Pendant sucks (outside of Reversal Quiz OTK), right? And most Field spells that only generate ATK suck, right? As was previously looked at by many other players, the average value of 1 card's worth of advantage is somewhere around 2,000 LP. This is why Confiscation sees play, why Equips aren't run, and why a player is willing to take a smack to the face with a Mirror Force down, hoping to draw out a second monster to destroy with it.

This card requires an extra resource (Tribute monster) for 500 more ATK points and Trample. There's a way better way to give a monster a small ATK boost and trample, and it's Big Bang Shot. With card advantage being so important, people don't even play Big Bang Shot anymore, let alone commit an extra monster to get such an effect. And let's not forget that you only get one turn with that effect if you only tribute one monster -- you need TWO to keep it on the field. Ew.

Some crazy Fairy control deck could possibly use it for a big swing, but until we see something like that T8 an SJC, I'm probably still going to see several of these in the junk binder/bulk trades.

Dark Paladin
Today we look at Majestic Mech Goryu, which is an interesting monster.
It is a Level 8 monster which requires two tributes, and also a Fairy, which is cool.

MMG has 2900 attack which is great for two tributes, but a little low defense of only 1800. This monster also has trample, and 2900 attack with trample is excellent. However, there is a bonus to this card.

If you choose, you can tribute only one monster for MMG, and still have 2900 attack and still have trample. However, if you do this, it finds a home in your Graveyard at the End Phase of the turn.

Yes, we have better trample options, such as Airknight obviously, and even Dark Driceratops at 2400 attack and one tribute who will stay on the field, but this is a nice second behind Airknight for fairy decks.

Majestic Mech Goryu:
Wierd picture. Simple effect.

A 2900 trampler is alright in my book. OK, it's vulnerable to all those problems in life that anything is vulnerable to, but as Lv. 8's go, this is rather good. The possibility of getting it for one turn for only one tribute is slightly less tempting. Generally throwing away cards merely to do damage isn't worth it, which is all this would do. However, it can be a nifty demi-win condition.

Majestic Mech Goryu

Powerful, powerful piercing effect, pretty sweet monster. Goryu is one of the most anticipated cards in the set , and could well be my favourite fairy.

At 2900 attack nothing commonly played can out match it. Considering it is a 2 tribute it can be worthwhile to work around, and considering it CAN be made into a one tribute for the turn it could be game ending. Given less credit than Ohka, but in my opinion equally powerful. Hit a Spirit Reaper successfully and you’re laughing. .

Goryu, being light, deserves to see some play. Hitting for one of these in a return deck hits hard, and is normally well worth the tribute 1 turn investment. How long do other monsters last anyway?

Advanced ; 3.5/5

Art ; 3/5 Frickin weird huh?
MPS ; 4/5 A god card of sorts…

MikeJ Majestic Mech - Goryu

[Fairy/Effect]

Level 8/Light Type

2900 ATK/1800 DEF

You can Normal Summon this card by Tributing 1 monster. If you Normal Summon it this way, it is sent to the Graveyard during the End Phase. During battle between this attacking card and a Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the ATK of this card, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points.
I guess I will cover for BobDoily while he away doing top secret evil stuff..... or just working his normal day so I guess MikeJ gets to have some fun ^_^ for once
This is one of the better cards in Enemy of Justice next to Cyber Pheonix or Majestic Mech-Okha in playability in my opinion. Being a light-type you can try it in a chaos deck if you want more offence plus being level 8 for 1 tribute you can easyly morph it into a Cyber Twin Dragon or Gatling Dragon then have a 2900/1800 hitter in the remove pile thanks to Chaos Sorcerer's effect then later on more bang with return. On its own this card isn't really that great just a 2900 trampler thats dies doing the end phase which means wasted resources unless you tributed Treeborn Frog but combined with other cards like Morph, Last Will, Treeborn Frog or the most popular lately Creature Swap make the best out of its effect either during its short stay on the field or after it dies. Some people will say that Majestic Mech Okha is better there probally right since its non tribute effect for a 2400 beatstick light type that could ram into much played tributes like Zaborg, Jinzo, or Mobius to a lesser decree or just take out threats like Chaos Sorcerer or Cyber Dragon without worry since your opponent usually would not want to waste a Sakuretsu Armor or Mirror Force on something that dies anyways. If you're running a Mech deck or a Fairy deck this could greatly improve since Fairy don't have much big hitters like this unless its Gaurdian Angel Joan or Archlord Zerato lol .
Traditional Format 2.0/5: Still lots of better cards to use there other then this
Advance Format 3.5/5: If you're running a deck based around it or the other Majestic Mechs then 5/5 naturally
Artwork 1/5 Too this day I can't figure what is it just a creepy looking alien thingy

Satisfaction
Majestic Mech - Goryu is not all it looks like. Being a super rare you would expect something good out of this Mech, what you get are stats, piercing, and a light.

Out of all of the Majestic Mechs this must be one of the second best.
In Yu-gi-oh people aren't fans of two tribute monsters but only tributing one will only give you some negatives.

Being destroyed at the end phase because of this one tribute effect can fuel for Chaos Sorcerer giving a perfect card for Return from the Different Dimension. Swap Decks also can also use this by Creature Swaping after you attack for a lot of damage.

Piercing will make sure it goes through the Spirit Reapers and annoying Treeborn Frogs while causing tons of damage. Majestic Mech - Goryu can be very handy in time since it can be easily summoned with 2900 attack with piercing.

As costly this card may seem it is a perfect tech for Return decks making sure you can do lots of damage even if they are stalling with a Spirit Reaper.
