Dark Magic Attack

Harpie’s Feather Duster when you have Dark Magician on the field. Very simple, no?

Awesome if you’re going for that final blow with your Dark Magician, a terrible topdeck; a staple in DM Decks, worthless anywhere else.

Traditional – CCCC: 1/5
Traditional – Dark Magician: 4.5/5
Advanced – CCWC: 1/5
Advanced – Dark Magician: 5/5

Coin Flip
I would like to apologize for this week's choices. Dark Magic Attack is actually about as situational as Knight's Title. But you get a MUCH better payoff. I mean, Harpies Feather Duster is banned. Yet, ZOMG, here it is.

Not surprisingly, however, I would rather use Fuh Rin Ka Zan than this. Shazam.

No rating. If you have room in your Dark Magician, use it (well, try it out, anyway =\). If you don't, you don't really need to make room. While this card does have a valuable effect, it will usually hit three cards maximum, and if you're using it when they have three cards on the field, chances are they wouldn't have let you keep Dark Magician out. And they're just going to be all "chain MST/Goat/Book of Moon/Ring/Call on Sangan or Jinzo/Waboku/Return from a Different Dimension zomg".

Snapper Dark Magic Attack

Today’s card is a Spell reminiscent of a card lost to Advanced long ago.
It’s Dark Magic Attack.

If you have a Dark Magcian on your side of the field, DMA can be activated.
Once activated, all Spells and Traps on the opponent’s side of the field are destroyed. Those who have ever lived in a time in which Harpie’s Feather Duster should see the uses this card possesses. Clearing the opponent’s field of the foundation of a Deck is a crippling effect, and in the short run allows you to attack the opponent without the worry of Mirror Forces and summon monsters without the nagging suspicion of Torrential Tributes or BTHs.

The only real problem with DMA is its activation requirement. At most you’ll use two Dark Magicians in a Deck, and at the same time use no more than 2 DMA to work alongside the aforementioned master of wizards. Probability does not favor the chances that exist in having these two cards at the same time more than once or twice in a full moon, and that favoritism decreases again when the necessity of summoning one of the two cards to the field.

This does not mean that DMA is a card incapable of ever being used. In fact if you’re fortunate you may be able to use it once or twice every match.
What it does mean though is that you shouldn’t abandon the likes of MST and Heavy Strom for the sake of a pure Dark Magician Deck, which it is unlikely you’d do anyway. All in all, DMA is an excellent example of what can be done to give themed Deck a fighting chance, and not just strengthen Decks everywhere as a whole.

Advanced (DM Deck): 4/5. Make sure Dark Magcian isn’t difficult to summon.
Traditional (DM Deck): 3/5. I’d probably stick with HFD, but that’s just my conformist nature.
Overall (DM Deck): 5/5.
Art: 5/5. It’s Name That Monster Time! I see Dark Magcian (how surprising)

Dark Paladin
As Dark Magician support week progresses, we come to a card that REALLY only has a use in the Dark Magician deck.

Dark Magic Attack, while cleverly named, is a great card for the Dark Magician deck, namely in Advanced. With Harpie's Feather Duster being banned, and spell/trap destruction at an all time low, this can be quite a welcome addition.

Sorry to be so short today, but there isn't really all that much to say about a HFD card that needs DM on the field to be used.

Ratings:

Traditional Dark Magician: 2.5/5 Another option, but not necessarily needed.
Advanced Dark Magicain: 4.5/5 A very welcome helper in the environment.

Art: 5.0/5 Awesome Holo foil art as is Inferno Fire BLast and Burst Stream of Destruction!

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

ExMinion OfDarkness
Dark Magic Attack

I'm not going to repeat everything I said Tuesday...but I'll summarize it:

Great effect, horrible activation cost. Harpie's Feather Duster = good; requiring a 2-trib to use a version of it = bad. This should have been made a little more powerful -- like...any 2 spellcasters, or any spellcasters whose levels total 7 or higher...so 2 Skilled DMs would be enough to trigger it.

But until then...

1.5/5 (You do need to play one of these if you're playing a DM deck..)
