wartortle32 Gravekeeper's Guard

FLIP: Select 1 Monster Card on your opponent’s side of the field (regardless of position) and return it to its owner’s hand.

Another Gravekeeper, and this one is more for the defensive deck. With a regular def of 1900, and powered up to 2400 with Necrovalley, it can stop most monsters in their tracks. It also has the nice ability to bounce an opponent's monster back. I usually save this effect for a jinzo or another tribute or special summon monster. While it isn't as essential as the other gravekeepers that have been reviewed, I still personally like to use this card to clear the way for the attacks from my other gravekeepers. More than once has this card bounced the only defense the opponent had and allowed me to finish off the opponent with my other gravekeepers.

I'd give this a 3/5. I mostly use it for clearing the opponent's field of monsters, but it can also work great to stall for a few turns if you're in a tight spot.
DuelMonster Thursday: Gravekeeper’s Guard:

PGD-061-Common
Dark/Spellcaster/4/1000/1900
Effect: FLIP: Select 1 Monster Card on your opponent’s side of the field (regardless of position) and return it to its owner’s hand.

Well, this monster is basically an altered Hane-Hane, but the two main differences are that is has higher stats and can ONLY effect the monsters on the opponents side of the field. With 1900 DEF and 2400 DEF with Necrovalley, he can hold his own against allot of monsters when it is attacked while face-down, so then you can either use him for a Tribute Summon or Tribute Fire him off with GK-CannonHolder. I guess you could also attack with him but with only 1000/1500 ATK usually won't be necessary if you're running GK-Spear and GK-Assailant.

Like most flip-effect monsters you can use Book Of Moon to reuse his effect, but with all the Gravekeeper's being Spellcasters you can also use Ready For Interception on them too. Besides sending a monster back to the opponents’ hand you can get back a monster they might have Snatch Stolen, Creature Swapped or Monster Reborned from your Graveyard.

I don't really see him as a key part of a Gravekeeper's Deck, but he can be fun and help out in allot of instances. With having 1900/2400 DEF he makes for a good wall against the usual unboosted Beatdown monsters, and having the opponent attack him while he's face-down with Necrovalley on the field will be a fist hitting a wall then sending Jinzo back to their hands, which can really piss some people off if played right.

So far this is the most common of the Gravekeeper's that I've been pulling, so getting a hold of him should be no problem. Even in a Gravekeeper's Deck I wouldn't run more than 1 or 2 of these guys, but everyone has their own taste so it's up to YOU, yes YOU to decide what you play with and how you play it, so don't let anybody tell you what cards or deck style to play unless they have your friend(s) or family held hostage or something. Sorry... I don't know where that came from, but I can't say it won't happen again.

Ratings:
Casual: 2.0
Tourney: 2.5
ArtWork: 2.5 - I really like allot of the newer artwork coming out, they put more detail and thought into the characters now. This guy’s got a nice shiny head, a poll of some sort and an eerie red glow around him, best not to get in his way.
Pegasus Gravekeeper's Guard, 9/11/03:

As we all bow our heads in honor of the brave men and women who gave their lives to help protect this country this eleventh of September... let's kick off the day with a review!

Gravekeeper's Guard is just a hane-hane with higher stats. That's about it. Higher stats, though, means that it won't die if anything up to a Gemini Elf attacks it, which means it'll last longer for more stalling. Your opponent will most likely have to waste an attack and then either another attack or an m/t to get rid of this card, so it's a pretty nice stall for gravekeeper decks.

Aside from that, it's not that great of a card. 1000 ATK isn't going to last long if you plan to use this monster in ATK mode... of course, with Necrovalley it becomes 1500/2400, which are quite decent stats (not to mention the reverse of Jinzo's). It'll last a pretty long time with Necrovalley out (well, not really.. they can still remove it with m/ts).

And it becomes a 2400 ATTACKER with Shield and Sword... and since most useful monsters have really low DEF (Ha Des: 1600, Jinzo: 1500, Airknight: 1400, Kycoo: 700, Spear Dragon: 0) it probably won't even need Necrovalley to get rid of these guys. Shield and Sword power! (Hey, maybe we should review Shield and Sword sometime soon....)

Rating:
Casual: 4/5 in a Gravekeeper deck, 3.5/5 in a Shield and Sword deck, 2.8/5 elsewhere
Tourney: 3.6/5 in a Gravekeeper deck, 3/5 in a Shield and Sword deck, 2/5 elsewhere
Vodkam Thursday 09/11/03: Gravekeeper's Guard

4/1000/1900
Dark/Spellcaster
PGD-061
FLIP: Select 1 Monster Card on your opponent's side of the field (regardless of position) and return it to its owner's hand.

Hane-Hane on steroids - another good Gravekeeper card...

1900 DEF is a nice wall against most beatdownish monsters and the monster returning effect is equally nice. This is a good card when you're in a jam or if you fear your opponent's facedown card. This works really well offensively too, clearing the field so you can attack directly or use a Royal Tribute. When Necrovalley is active, 2400 DEF is tough to deal with. This combos nicely with Gravekeeper's Cannonholder as well. Use Guard's effect, attack then launch.

His ATK strength isn't going to win many contests but since you're sending a monster back to your opponent's hand, it probably won't matter since you'll be doing the big damage with Assailant and Spear Soldier. Being a flip effect also makes him vulnerable to Nobleman of Crossout and Ceasefire and it's pretty awful when your opponent uses Change of Heart on this while it's facedown. He's also not that useful if summoned with Gravekeeper's Spy or Rite of Spirit but is a good wall in a pinch.

This is a pretty decent card. It works well in and out of a Gravekeeper deck.

Casual: 3.9
Tourney: 3.4
