Pojo's Yu-Gi-Oh Card of the Day

A Legendary Ocean

Card Number - LOD-078

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale
1 being the worst.  3 ... average.
5 is the highest rating

Date Reviewed - 05.29.03

wartortle32 A Legendary Ocean

This card's name is treated as "Umi". Downgrade all WATER monsters in both player's hands and on the field by 1 Level. Increases the ATK and DEF of all WATER monsters by 200 points.

This card singly makes water decks playable. With this, you can now summon the legenary fisherman without tribute and suijin for only 1 tribute. With these 2 monster's effects, it can make any water deck deadly. Throw in some 7 colored fishes or giant seasnakes that become boosted to 2000 attack and you have a really competitive deck. Not only that, but this lets you use gravity bind with 7 colored fishes and seasnakes.

In a water deck, I'd give this a 4.5/5 as it's almost absolutely necessary.
SomeGuy Thursday - A Legendary Ocean

This card's name is treated as "Umi". Downgrade all WATER monsters in both player's hands and on the field by 1 Level. Increases the ATK and DEF of all WATER monsters by 200 points.

At last we finally get the better version of Umi. This is the exact card The Legendary Fisherman has been waiting for. A level 4 with 2050 ATK and an amazing Effect is nothing to be taken lightly. What's even more disgusting is seeing Giant Red Seasnake and 7 Colored Fish attack under an opponent's Gravity Bind. Good times.

Just like any other card that sits on the field, it is highly prone to Mystical Space Typhoon, Heavy Storm, and Harpies Feather Duster. Which you WILL see in every competitive deck. Though this does not mean A Legendary Ocean won't see any play.

This is definitely a very cool card that will boost the playability of Water based decks. It may not dominate the tournament scene, but it's a great deck to try out if you're bored of using the cookie-cutter Beatdown decks that you always see.

Rating: 3.6/5
SandTrap Today's CotD is A Legendary Ocean. It acts as an Umi, boosting basically all Water-type monsters by 200. It also lowers the Level of Water monsters by 1, making The Legendary Fisherman a Level 4 non-tribute monster. Weee! O, it also makes Suijin a 1-tribute monster, but I wouldn't use him anyways :P

3 of these are staples in a TLF (The Legendary Fisherman) deck. Outside of that, though, it's not really that great. Umiruka powers Water types by 500, so if you are not using TLF, use Umiruka. However, if you plan on using a Water deck, it might as well be TLF, with all the nice support he has.

With LO (A Legendary Ocean), Tornado Wall, and TLF out on the field, you're pretty much invincible until some m/t removal comes around to take out LO. And remember, if LO is destroyed, so is Tornado Wall! Icky.

Rating: 1/5 in a normal Water deck, as Umiruka is much better. But in a TLF deck, 5/5. So, I'd give it a 3/5 as an average. Maybe you could use that Magic Reflector from yesterday to protect LO...yay :D
Adam F. A Legendary Ocean

This card's name is treated as "Umi". Downgrade all WATER monsters in both player's hands and on the field by 1 Level. Increases the ATK and DEF of all WATER monsters by 200 points.

What is it with UD and cards that help Water-type monsters?

Hang on… let me check…

Oh, look, Legendary fisherman can be summoned without tribute, and it still gets its effect, and it gets a bonus

Hang on… let me check…

Oh, look, Suijin just became a LOT more playable…and it still gets its effect and it gets a bonus….

If you play water cards at all… especially cards that are level 5 or 7, run this card. It's a field card that gives those monsters a bonus as well as it drops them down a category.

Mind you, Leg. Fisherman is now susceptible to 4-Starred Ladybug of Doom…(which a lot of people play)…

BUT DEAR LORD…

If you run a water deck, or water monsters that can get bumped down to the next category… or water monsters at all, this is the field card you want to go with them… Good, good card…

Note: don't play it if you don't have any water monsters

5/5 in a water deck
4/5 with a few water monsters in a deck
- 5/5 with no water monsters in a deck
