Monday - Mystical Space Typhoon

Destroy 1 Magic or Trap Card on the Field.

Quick-Play Magic
Card Number MRL-047/SDP-032
Ultra Rare / Common

It's amazing what little text is required to make such a versatile card. Mystical Space Typhoon is by far one of the most useful cards in the game.

What's even more miraculous is that it isn't semi-restricted, or even restricted. 95% of every competitive deck doesn't run three copies of this card for no apparent reason.

Ever since Magic Ruler, Mystical Space Typhoon has been gaining more and more playability as new sets are released and more combos come to light.

It should be obvious how Mystical Space Typhoon is abused, it happens at hundreds of Tournament Centers each and every week.

Not as broken in Limited, but still worth using nonetheless.

DuelMonster Monday: 12/01/03

Mystical Space Typhoon/Cyclone:
MRL-047-Ultra Rare/SDP-032=Common
Quick-Play Spell: Destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card on the Field.

Pros:
Quick-Play - Works on opposing turn (if set)
Chainable - Can even be chained to IO
Common - Somewhat at least

Cons:
Only destroys one cards
Doesn't negate cards (Raigeki, Waboku...)
Can be negated (but what can't)
Targeted card can be activated if it's something like Waboku, RoD, IO, Scapegoat, Etc.

Combos:
Besides destroying stuff at strategic moments and Nice to get back your Snatch Stolen Monster I can't think of much that would be considered a "combo".

Notes:
Cyclone/MST/Typhoon whatever you prefer to call it, it's still one of the best Spell/Trap removers in the current game right now. Most people these days run three of them, it helped that it was re-released as a common in the Pegasus Starter Deck since getting three Ultra Rares either required $ or good trade bait. In the Japanese environment it's often considered a non-restricted Spell staple, as all the other "staples" are restricted like Harpie Feather Duster.

One of the biggest advantages to MST being a Quick-Play Spell is being able to chain it against Imperial Order, but you have to chain it as soon as IO is activated which I still end up having to explain to people like one a week or more. MST>IO and MST<IO, it all depends on priority and Spell Speed.

I love when the opponent has a Monster out that can only destroy my Monster because of a boost by either an Equip card or a Field card, then waiting until they declare an attack then playing MST to bring them back to their base attack and basically commit suicide, I've done it quite a few times against Gravekeeper Decks that rely on that 500 boost from Necrovalley.

So yeah, this card fits in ANY Deck type, unless you're trying out some Spell-less themed Deck, but if you have one use it, if you have three and room for them, use them, I do. This card will greatly grow in power as more set come out, and if you noticed that Dark Crisis involves a lot of Equip Spells and there are a few good Continuous Traps in there as well, and as more and more sets arrive there will be more and more Spells and Traps to be destroyed.

Ratings:
Casual: 4.0
Tourney: 3.5
ArtWork: 2.0 - Nothing special... just another weather card, I like Heavy Storms and Giant Trunades pictures better.
