Thursday - Call of the Haunted

I don't like this card.  It has too many restrictions to it.
1) It is a Trap card.
2) You can only choose from your Graveyard.
3) You can only put your choice in face-up attack position.
4) The Trap card has to remain on the field, or the monster is destroyed (no Giant Trunade combos here)

There is a particularly nasty combo you can pull with Jinzo that will let you return Call of the Haunted to your hand with Giant Trunade for re-use, but it's just not worth it.  I say eat the 800 LP and use Premature Burial instead, or just use the ole standard Monster Reborn.  Heck, go with The Shallow Grave for super fun time! ^_^;;;

Score: 2.8 (the revival aspect is important, but I don't think all the restrictions on it are worth it.  Don't get me wrong, this is a powerful card, and it will be restricted to 1, but it just doesn't appeal to me for some reason.)

Call of the Haunted
Continuous Trap
Select 1 monster from your Graveyard and Special Summon it in face-up Attack Position. When this card is destroyed or removed from the field, the summoned monster is destroyed. If the summoned monster is destroyed, this card is also destroyed.

One of the new Monster Reborns! ^_^

It's a lot toned down than Monster Reborn since you can only get back Monters from your own graveyard and the fact that it's weak against Mystical Space Typhoon and Heavy Storm. But it is still an amazing card, especially if you play some really high level Monsters like Blue Eyes White Dragon and Barrel Dragon. Just ditch them via Magic Jammer or Tribute to the Doom or Card Destruction and they are as good to go. It's still good even if the highest level monster you have is Summoned Skull.

Since it is a Trap though, you can activate it right after your opponent uses Dark Hole or Raigeki. He'll think twice before attacking... You also do not lose 800LP like Premature Burial however you don't get to activate it the turn you set it.

Since it's gonna be restricted to one soon, it has too be good right? Well, it is. Most decks would benefit from it and yours would probably as well.

Yonex Call of the Haunted -- Thursday

Introduction: Oh, I get to reborn my Jinzo! Bwhahahahha!

Continuous Trap
Select 1 monster from your Graveyard and Special Summon it in face-up Attack
Position. When this card is destroyed or removed from the field, the
summoned monster is destroyed. If the summoned monster is destroyed, this
card is also destroyed.

Why should you use it?
*Reborns monster
*Trap Card

Why shouldn't you use it?
*Your graveyard
*Trap Card
*Easily countered.

Reasons: Today we look at one of cards from the TV show also, Call of the
Haunted. Basically this is a broken down Monster Reborn turned into a Trap
Card. Like monster reborns, it reborns a monster from the Graveyard, which
at most, isn't bad at all. This is a Trap Card, which is good to try to
cause a Replay, like an Attack from a Dark Elf, Jira Gumo, or something. A
best move is to bring out a bigger monster than your opponent, so you can
attack next turn for an easy kill. Well like Premature Burial, your only
limited to your Graveyard, which isn't so good. Most of the time, you would
probably want stuff from your opponent's Graveyard, instead of your own.
Being a Trap Card also has it's disadvantages. This means, that you cannot
play this card until it has been set for 1 turn. This means that you have to
wait 1 turn before bringing out your beast. That 1 turn, a lot can happen.
It can be a difference between a win, and a loss. Also with it's ease to
counter, Heavy Storm and/or Cyclone, you can just hurt somone with it.

Rating: A good card, likely to see in monst decks. This gets a 3.8 in my
book. I see it is a good card, but I doubt to see that this card will be
used to his fullest. With lots of Magic and Traps spells out there, this
card won't be that great.

Conclusion: Call to see if this is the right deck for you.

wartortle32 Thursday - Call of the Haunted

Today we look at Call of the haunted, which is a trap card that lets you revive a monster.

While this card will certainly be broken, I think premature burial is better. Contrary to what I said before, you cannot use giant trunade with call of the haunted like you can with premature burial. But that minor setback doesn't really take anything away from this card. It is still one of the best cards in the pharoah's servant set. In addition, it doesn't have a cost, like premature burial does. Just want to clear
one thing up though. If the opponent attacks you and then you activate this trap to bring back a monster, a replay occurs and the opponent is allowed to choose
whether or not he wants to attack.

I give this card a 4.1/5. It's about even with premature burial, but I'd still go with the burial.

Call of the Haunted - Ultra Rare

Well.. this is a nasty card for Jinzo. From what I have heard he will still be revived even if this is a trap card. Go figure. Anyway this card is very nasty for Jinzo like i said. Suppose you're attacking with all of your mons and your opponent pulls mirror force. Do call of the haunted to bring back jinzo and mirror force gets negated. Isn't that just evil? Well i think it is. Anyway this card does wonders with Jinzo mostly. Anything else it isn't that good. Its a basic monster reborn that can be activated during an attack, magic, and trap card. It can help you in a tight spot. It will be restricted to 1 per deck but i don't think its that good to call it a staple but it is just evil when you combo it with Jinzo.

Today we are looking at an extraordinary Trap card from Pharaoh's Servant. This continuous trap card can be compared to Monster Reborn. This card is basically monster reborn. The effect gives you the same result, but at the disadvantage of being a continuous trap, meaning if the trap is destroyed your monster will go with it.

Mystical Space Typhoon, Heavy Storm, and even Giant Trunade will have a field day with this. Being a trap however also will put your opponent in a tough spot. When you have no monsters on the field, flip the Call of the Haunted, get a tough guy and then your opponent resigns and has to come up with a new plan. Not bad.

Overall Rating: I give it a 4.5. Why? Because Monster Reborn is limited to 1 per deck and this card gives you a similar effect. It isn't a solid 5 because of it's vulnerability to disruption cards like Mystical Space Typhoon and Heavy Storm, but will give you a solid advantage.

Here we have the 3rd Monster Reborn variant. Soon to be on the restriction list along with Premature Burial. Though it isn't as good as Monster Reborn iteself, it's still a very good card worth playing in many deck-types.

What makes Call of the Haunted unique is the fact that it's a Trap Card. This enables you to do a few tricks to your opponent.

Rating: 4.5/5

Monster advantage is almost always a good thing.
