YuGiOh Episode Guide

Season 2 - Episode #2 - Duel Identity Part 1

It all starts out as Yugi, Joey, Mai, and Bandit Keith wake up for the tornament thats suppose to take place today. The results were A vs B(Mai vs Yugi),and C vs D(Joey vs Bandit Keith). The A and B battle takes place first, and Mai and Yugi begins to duel.
As they just begin dueling, Mai notices that Yugi is not himself lately, and is distracted. She plays her openly move with Harpy Lady 1300/1400, and plays Mirror Wall face down. Yugi plays Gaia 2300/2100 and attacks, but Mirror wall reduces your opponents monster's atk point by 1/2. Gaia 1150/2100 is defeated by Mai's rose whip equiped Harpy. Yugi's life points 1450, Mai's 2000, and Harpy Lady 1600/1400 and later boosted by to 2450 by Cyber Shield. Later Yugi's Summoned Skull 2500/1200 is cut down to size by Mirror Wall and Harpy's Pet Dragon 2300 atk, blasted the skull to  smitherines. Then Yugi's Dark Magician is forced to atk mode by the magic card Shadow of Eyes, and is taken apart after being weakened by Mirror Wall by Harpy's Pet Dragon.

Duel Identity Part 1

The first semi-final is about to begin, and Yugi wants to finish the duel quickly, before the spirit in the Puzzle can take over. Mai plays strong, and begins with her Harpy Lady (4/1300/1400) in attack mode and sets a closed card. Yugi plays Gaia the Fierce Knight (7/2300/2100) and attacks the Harpy, but Mai activates Mirror Wall, which cuts the attack of an opponent’s monster in half, which makes Gaia reduced to 1150. In her turn, Mai equips Cyber Shield to Harpy Lady, which now has 1800 attack, and Gaia is destroyed, taking Yugi’s Lifepoints down to 1350. Yugi draws his Summoned Skull and thinks that that is a way to win quickly. Yugi sets a card, then summons Summoned Skull (6/2500/1200) and attacks with it, not realising that Mirror Wall is a permanent Trap Card, and Skull’s attack is halved as well (1250). Mai thinks that Yugi is really off the game and plays Harpies Feather Duster to destroy the facedown Spellbinding Circle.

(It seems that in the Duellist Kingdom, when you activate Harpies Feather Duster, it becomes a kind of equipment card for one turn to the Harpy Lady and destroys 1 Spell or Trap Card on the field. But, seemingly, the Harpy Lady can’t attack that turn. This happens another time, later in the duel, when Harpies Pet Dragon destroys the Dark Magician. Why else wouldn’t Mai attack the weakened Summoned Skull and reduces Yugi’s Lifepoints to 800? Then the attack on the Magician would have finished him off.) Yugi switches Skull to defense mode and plays the Feral Imp (4/1300/1400) in defense as well. Not impressed, Mai activates Rose Whip and equip it to Harpy Lady to make it even more powerful, with an attack of 2100. The Feral Imp is no more. Yugi wastes his turn.

(But in the manga, he summons another monster named Saigaa, which must be a misspelling of Sangan (3/1000/600) or something like that. Probably to bring Catapult Turtle (5/1000/2000) to his hand?)

Mai then summons Harpies Pet Dragon (7/2000/2500), which attack is raised by 300 points for each Harpy Lady on the field. Harpies Pet Dragon destroys Summoned Skull (and the Harpy Lady destroyed Sangan?). Yugi draws his Dark Magician, planning to use it to lure Mai into attacking. Yugi sets a card facedown and summons Dark Magician (7/2500/2100) in defense mode, knowing that with the Mirror Wall in play, he can’t attack. Mai says that even defensive monster aren’t save anymore, and plays Shadow of Eyes (in the real game a Trap Card, not a Spell), which lures the Dark Magician into attacking her Harpy Lady. The Mage runs into the Mirror Wall, and his attack is halved to 1250. Then Mai plays a second Harpies Feather Duster to destroy Mirror Force, following it up with her Harpies Pet Dragon, which destroys Yugi’s Magician, making his Lifepoints lower to only 300, while Mai still has her full 2000.

Yugi is stuck in a corner. He has a mere 300 Lifepoints, each monster he summons in defense will be lured into attacking by Shadow of Eyes, but if he attacks, the Mirror Wall will halve the attack strength of his monsters. The spirit of the Puzzle asks Yugi to let him help him, or else they will lose more than this duel!
