INTRODUCTION/HISTORY---------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version FINAL(4/23/02): It would take forever to make any sort of listing in this guide, so I decided to just make it a general construction guide. You should find some good advice here. Version 0.006(4/22/02): The Construction system of this game intrigued me, so I decided to write up a guide on it. This guide will take a long time to complete due to the extensive list of constructions. I decided to submit this first version so I can get opinions on it and whether I should continue on it or not. I still have a lot of Parts to collect before I can totally complete this guide. If anyone has a really easy way to get Parts (I already have Yugi's grandfather unlocked), send it as well. I'll be putting up part-gathering methods in this guide as well. As usual, send it to NickWhiz1@buckeye-express.com with the title "Yu-Gi-Oh! DDS Construction Guide" or something similar. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. CREDITS----------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kazuki Takahashi, for creating the world of Yu-Gi-Oh! and Duel Monsters. Konami, for making this game. GameFAQs, because they are hosting this guide. PoJo, because they are hosting this guide, and they gave me a job on the Yu-Gi-Oh! CotD staff! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. WHAT IS CARD CONSTRUCTION?---------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Construction system in Dark Duel Stories is quite unique. It allows you to combine card parts to create different cards. Each unique constructed card consists of an upper body and lower body part. There are 2 sets of constructed cards, upper body 1/lower body 1 and upper body 2/lower body 2. There are 4900 different constructed cards in each set, making a total of 9800 cards. (This makes a grand total of 10600 cards in the game.) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. CARD PARTS-------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- You win a card part for each opponent you defeat. (Later, when you find Yugi's grandfather, he will give you an additional card part for each opponent, thus making 2.) There are 280 total parts. The following is a list of all of the parts: (The left half are the lower/upper body 1 parts and the right half are the lower/upper body 2 parts.) ______________________________________________________________________ | Part # | Lower Body | Upper Body || Part # | Lower Body | Upper Body | | 0 |Beast |Ruby Eyes || 70 |Yellowtip |Slave | | 1 |Rabbit |Quickdraw || 71 |Hipoglif |Demonmask | | 2 |Koator |Cornfield || 72 |Cobalcat |Siberian | | 3 |Demidead |Tyrant || 73 |Greenwing |Zar | | 4 |Mino |Astonish || 74 |Vespider |3-eyed | | 5 |Yargo |Arrowhead || 75 |Katapil |Parasite | | 6 |Mantis |Centipede || 76 |Insect |One-eyed | | 7 |Count |Tomatohed || 77 |Mandrake |Goddess | | 8 |Bulb |Bamboo || 78 |Vine |Red Bean | | 9 |Plant |Holy || 79 |Tendril |Screaming | |10 |Ent |Spawn || 80 |Manface |Violet | |11 |Swordbug |Red Goat || 81 |BluDemon |Labyrinth | |12 |Dore |Butcher || 82 |Elemental |Wisp | |13 |Race |King Dead || 83 |Herborus |Greenskul | |14 |Lizard |Wounded || 84 |Redflower |Laughing | |15 |Vern |Belly Lip || 85 |Dinosaur |Dragonhed | |16 |Wood |Root || 86 |Mammoth |Long Nose | |17 |Rex |Blade || 87 |Salaman |Redeye | |18 |Lady |Spherus || 88 |Larvae |Cystaleye | |19 |Bear |Diamond || 89 |Cobaltrex |Stonehead | |20 |Statue |Stun Skin || 90 |Wybird |Bek | |21 |Snail |Slug || 91 |Waspie |Greenmask | |22 |Alligator |Froggie || 92 |Dragonfly |Red Boar | |23 |Crocodile |Cardinal || 93 |Mermouse |Multi-eye | |24 |Giraffe |Icicle || 94 |Slither |Two-tone | |25 |Hookworm |Red Spine || 95 |Nightbird |Phantasma | |26 |Ostrich |Bell Bill || 96 |Barta |Blidranis | |27 |Bird |Parrot || 97 |Deathbird |Bald | |28 |Ashura |Mono Eye || 98 |Redbird |Mane | |29 |Electro |Mutus || 99 |Pale Hare |Longcrest | |30 |Kaizer |Samurai ||100 |Rockiller |Servant | |31 |Warrior |Mino ||101 |Squirm |Sleeping | |32 |Valkyrie |Beauty ||102 |Barbarian |Bludmask | |33 |Blue Leg |Phantom ||103 |Knight |Cuthead | |34 |Red Leg |Puppet ||104 |Purplight |Robohead | |35 |Purplitch |Mos Armor ||105 |Greencape |Shaker | |36 |Saurus |Blue Skin ||106 |Master |Baldorgon | |37 |Guardian |Merknight ||107 |Todon |Fanged | |38 |Snakebird |FluffBeast ||108 |Bird King |Fox Mask | |39 |Blutches |Red Main ||109 |Demonkill |Red Horn | |40 |Girl |Slender ||110 |Lion Girl |Smiling | |41 |Greenfish |Mask Dom ||111 |Swordfish |Arrowtip | |42 |Eel |Mushroom ||112 |Softgills |Spoithead | |43 |Fat Fish |Angler ||113 |Shark |Drillhorn | |44 |Leviathan |Kaija ||114 |Coela |Murdagon | |45 |Seaworm |Dark ||115 |Lung Fish |Grenaqua | |46 |Parplus |Souleater ||116 |Tapeworm |Shellhead | |47 |Crystal |Soulicer ||117 |Deathfish |Deep-sea | |48 |Bluesers |Pirate ||118 |Neptune |Whalehead | |49 |Serpent |WhitePia ||119 |Sea Bat |Melted | |50 |Wizard |Aqua Mage ||120 |Petitrix |Bean Kids | |51 |Arabian |Cloudhead ||121 |Red Cape |Old | |52 |Clown |Greenjest ||122 |Witch |Redwing | |53 |PinkDemon |NursePia ||123 |Succubus |Bewitch | |54 |Tierjeans |Redhead ||124 |Dokron |Dedspawn | |55 |Chariot |Ice Armor ||125 |Red Uncle |Corrupted | |56 |Darkbeast |Funnyface ||126 |NiteDemon |Kappus | |57 |Illusions |Skullaboo ||127 |Deathrail |Locomohed | |58 |Maiden |Ice Queen ||128 |Gigols |Evil Eye | |59 |Tank |Gatling ||129 |Machine |Mech | |60 |Rocket |Mech ||130 |Swordsman |Mirror | |61 |Fortress |Judgement ||131 |Eskar |Drone | |62 |Viper |Naga ||132 |Turtle |Wormhead | |63 |Python |BlueCobra ||133 |Big Toad |Froghead | |64 |Hydra |Oro ||134 |Zaard |Frilled | |65 |Eifleet |Fireblade ||135 |Redpantel |Leohead | |66 |Liquid |Kafbarhed ||136 |Dinohound |Cluckhead | |67 |Angel |Ice Sword ||137 |Holyhound |Wolf Head | |68 |Maid |Dagger ||138 |Powers |Valiant | |69 |Medium |Light Law ||139 |Seraphim |Playful | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. CONTROLS/INSTRUCTIONS--------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are three parts of the construction area: =========================================================================== CHEST =========================================================================== Here, you can look at the constructed cards you have created. You can hold up to 200 construted cards at a time. The number next to the name of the card tells you how many of that card you have that are not currently in your 40-card deck. There are two options you can use in this screen. You can either view the DETAILS of a card you select, or DISASSEMBLE a card you select. Scroll through the list, press the A button to select a card, then A again to choose an option. NOTE: If you have multiple copies of a card, and one or more are in your deck AND one or more in your chest, you can not disassemble those cards in your chest unless all the copies of that card are removed from your deck. =========================================================================== PARTS =========================================================================== Here, you can look at the complete list of parts, and how many of each you have. The number next to the name of the part tells you how many spare parts of that type you have (i.e. not part of a deck). Use the Left and Right buttons on the Control Pad to scroll between the 5 card screens. =========================================================================== CONSTRUCTION =========================================================================== This is the main part. Here, you can actually combine the parts to create cards. Remember that you have a 200 construction card limit. To switch between lower/upper body 1 and lower/upper body 2 groups, press START. The two lowest numbers tell you what parts make up the card you are currently on. The top number is the upper body part, and the bottom number is the lower body part. If there is a star next to the numbers, it means you have that part. If you have both parts of the card currently on screen, you can construct it. If you want this card, press the A button. The card will go to your Chest unless you already have 200 constructed cards there. To scroll between cards, press Up and Down on the Control Pad to scroll between the upper body parts, and Left and Right to scroll between the lower body parts. If you hold down SELECT while pressing the Left and Right buttons, you can scroll between the upper and lower body parts at the same time. There are a lot of cards here, so be patient when looking for the one you want. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. GENERAL HINTS----------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- -It's always better to construct for attack than defense. You shouldn't waste your parts on defensive monsters. -It's recommended that you use no monster with an attack of less than 1900. You should only use an attack below 1900 IF you need a monster of a certain alignment to fight off a specific opponent. -There are NUMEROUS 2000 attack monsters available within the 9800 card grid. So if you don't have all the parts, but have, let's say, around half of them, you can normally find a few strong monsters to put into your deck. -Only use a construction monster if it is Level 3 or 4. If it is Level 5, this requiring a sacrifice, it's not worth it, as there are numerous monsters at Level 5 and 6 with attack power 2000 or above (Judge Man, B. Dragon Jungle King, Summoned Skull, Toon Summoned Skull, etc...) -If you can, try to use as many 2000 attack monsters in your deck as you can. Combine your construction cards with cards like Dark Elf and Jirai Gumo to make your deck strong. -Enjoy the game! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7.
