Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME KICKS OFF THE FALL SEASON

WITH A WEALTH OF NEW PRODUCTS FEATURING NEW TECHNOLOGIES, STRONGER MONSTERS, AND NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN CARDS OUTSIDE OF JAPAN

New Fall Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Releases Allow Fans to Become Synchronized with All  Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Players Across the World

CARLSBAD – September 09, 2004 – Upper Deck Entertainment (UDE) -- a division of The Upper Deck Company -- changes the world of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME with brand new expansion sets Soul of the Duelist, Dark Beginning and Rise of Destiny. The new sets feature new card technologies, stronger monsters and cards never-before-seen outside of Japan. These sets also allow Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG players around the world to have access to all of the same Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG cards for the very first time.

Please see descriptions and release dates below:

SOUL OF THE DUELIST – Mid-September 2004
Soul of the Duelist is the newest Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG expansion set to hit the shelves. This new set will feature special Ultimate Rare foil card technologies only seen in Japan until now, which highlights and textures the images, the Attribute and Level Stars on the card. In addition, the set will introduce new monsters with strong abilities to defeat more enemies; newer and more powerful versions of the most popular cards; and release the largest Fusion Monster seen outside of Japan, “Master of Oz.”

DARK BEGINNING – Late October 2004
Dark Beginning is a reprint set, designed to help Duelists collect hard to-get and out-of-print cards. Perfect for Duelists entering the world of Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG and includes cards with improved clarified text. Included in each is a never-seen-before Player Tip card that will help Duelists expand their Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG knowledge.

RISE OF DESTINY – Late November 2004
Rise of Destiny is the next booster that will change the world of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG. Rise of Destiny ties the old with the new, bringing back many Monsters in new forms and expanding the fantasy. These Monsters currently appear on the animated series, allowing Duelists to create Decks and themes as seen on television. With nine new Machine-Type monsters, support for “Harpie Lady” Decks, and Anti-Trap monsters to combat your opponent’s traps, Rise of Destiny will revolutionize the game as we know it.

Among Duelists, the demand for booster sets has continued to increase as more Duelists join the game and compete in the Duelist King Tournament, held in neighborhood hobby stores across North America. Currently, more than 600,000 duelists are registered in more than 6,000 stores across North America.

During the game, players Duel each other by summoning monsters and activating Spell and Trap cards. Using a Starter Deck and/or booster sets, Duelists collect cards to play their hands against other Duelists. Duelists with well-constructed Decks, powerful monsters, solid strategy and a little good fortune are the winners in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME.
