UPPER DECK ENTERTAINMENT LAUNCHES NEW CERTIFICATION

PROGRAM FOR JUDGES AND TOURNAMENT ORGANIZERS

Testing Programs Begin in November

Carlsbad, CA - November 6, 2003 - In an continuing effort to create an enjoyable, competitive and fair game-play environment, the Upper Deck Company -- the leader in sports and entertainment collectibles -- is offering the new Upper Deck Entertainment Certification Program, in which qualified individuals can become tournament judges, organizers, score keepers, and demo team members. The new certification program will be used for the highly-popular Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME, the Marvel Trading Card Game, and other upcoming Upper Deck products.

"Players appreciate knowing that their favorite trading card games have superior game play support from the company that makes them," said Jeff Donais, Director of Game Development Group, Upper Deck. "To achieve our goal of supporting our games and players, we will be seeking qualified individuals who can contribute to making UDE events amazing."

The unique certification program allows individuals to exercise their skills and knowledge in many specializations, and to be officially certified in each area of expertise. Individuals interested in running official tournament can take the test for the Tournament Organizer specialization. Individuals who are interested in game rules can pursue specialization in that area. Other areas of specialization include scorekeeping, player management and demo team proficiency. The program offers a customized rewards program, in which certified judges can earn special awards based on participation and specialization level.

Interested candidates can become certified in each area of specialization after passing a level one test online. Through the Personalized Specialization System, individuals then have the option of advancing to higher levels in each area. Advancement beyond level one in each specialization will require skill tests and a personal interview by a higher-level judge. Higher-level tests will take place at special events, conventions, and premier tournaments around the world.

Candidates can begin taking the level one test online at www.ude.com/judge ; one application will be accepted each week.

Individuals with questions regarding game rules can email Upper Deck Entertainment's expert staff at ude@upperdeck.com. For more information on the certification program, candidates can log onto www.ude.com/judge.
