The tournament had 3 preliminary rounds, then the top 8 would be put into 2 groups, side A and side B, side A would all duel for first to fourth and side B would duel for fifth to eighth.

Now to the Duels

Duel 1

Round 1

Me-8000, 3750, 0

Devon-8000, 4950

His Deck has no real theme, he used a lot of equip magic cards.  He got a La Jinn up to 3900. I couldn’t do anything.

Round 2

Me-8000, 7200

Devon-8000, 3700, 4700, 5700, 500, 0

I only lost life points to using Premature Burial on a Summoned Skull.  I beat him down with the Skull.

Round 3

Me-8000, 6200, 3800, 2300

Devon-8000, 7000, 9000, 7200, 4700, 2200, 0

I got a La jinn out with my Axe on it, then I sucked up his Summoned Skull with Relinquished and crushed him.

Record 2-1

Duel 2

Round 1

Peter had a Black Skull Dragon as well. His Deck had no theme, he just threw all the Ultra and super rares together in a pile and called it his deck.

Me-8000

Peter-8000, 6200, 4400, 2600, 800, 0

He got no monsters out the whole game; I used 1 Fish to beat him down.

Round 2

Me-8000, 4400, 3700, 2900

Peter-8000, 4800, 1000, 0

It looked like he was going to beat me, then I drew Polymerization, Premature Burial my Skull, then reborned his Red Eyes and finished him.

 Record 4-1

Duel 3

Round 1

Me-8000, 7950, 3350, 550, 0

Mark-8000

I don’t know what happened here, he played a semi beatdown and I had never lost to him in the other tournaments, but this time he beat me with a good strategy of clearing my field then attacking directly.

Round 2

Me-8000, 7050, 4550, 2050

Mark-8000, 5750, 4200, 2650, 1800, 0

He almost did the exact same thing as last round, Raigeki saved me, I reborned my skull and used Raigeki to clear his field then beat him both the SKULL.

Round 3

Me-8000

Mark-8000, 7200, 4400, 2600, 0

I got the Black Skull Dragon out early and beat him fairly easily with that, I had to Magic Jammer his Raigeki and a fissure.

Record 6-2

Semi-Finals

Round 1

Me-8000, 6400

Mike-8000, 6200, 5850, 3850, 0

Mike is Mark’s older brother and he was funny ass hell, his dueling skills were a joke but he was funny and cracked jokes throughout the duel.  He lost his hopes of coming close to winning when I brought out the Infamous Black Skull Dragon.

Round 2

Me-8000

Mike-8000, 3500, 0

He had a Skull and a Fish out then I Raigekied and reborned his skull and brought out a La Jinn.  He had 2 horn of the unicorns on his skull so he had no monsters for 2 turns, which was plenty of time for me to beat him.

Finals

Round 1

Me-8000, 6200, 4400, 3700, 1200, 0

Paul-8000, 6200, 3700

I got Paul started with Yu-Gi-Oh and taught him all I know, this was the second time we had faced each other in the finals of a tournament.  He Basically had the same deck as me, minus the Black Skull Dragon.  He beat me with a Skull equipped with a Malevolent Nuzzler.

Round 2

Me-8000, 7000

Paul-8000, 6200, 3600, 1800, 0

The Only life points I lost were due to 7 Tools of the Bandit.  The Beatdown components of my deck pulled through for me, I kept drawing 1800’s and Skulls. I had 2 Harpies Brothers and a Summoned Skull; I attacked his face down wall of Illusion with the skull then attacked for direct damage.  He drew a harpies brother, which he put in attack mode to end his turn.  I tributed one of my harpies for Summoned Skull then Raigekied his field and then attacked to win.

Round 3

Me-8000, 6200, 4800, 3000, 300, 0

Paul-8000, 6200, 4400, 4000

I drew nothing that could help me until I drew Raigeki, which I used, then reborned my Skull, I was down to 300.  Then he summons Relinquished and sucks up my skull to finish me.

So once again I lose to Paul in the final, no biggie, I won 5 packs of my choice, I picked all PSV and I pulled a Back-up Solider.  Paul won 9 magic rulers then the storeowner gave him an extra PSV, he pulled 9 rares out of his MRL and then The Legendary Fisherman in the PSV, so without the extra pack he would have pulled nothing.  Paul traded his Fisherman to a guy for Imperial Order, then I gave the same guy my extra Magical Hats for the Fisherman.

Props:

To Paul for being my only challenge all day

To Mike for trading me Rageki before the tournament

To Brian for trading me his Red Eyes before the tourney

To Bob, the store owner for giving me a free card out of his binder for buying a Box of Metal Raiders Boosters

To Pojo for posting tourney reports, which have helped me to build my deck.

Slops:

No slops really, the whole day was fun.
