Location: Frankfort, KY

Date: December 30, 2002

Howdy everyone! This is my second tourney report for Pojo, and the fifth touney I've participated in. I once again went with my friend Robert, and while the ends of the tourney was the same for him again this week, the means was a little different. No changes to my deck yet, as I didn't get around to buying any cards this week :o( Good news is the store owner, Steve, plans on opening up shop on single Yu-Gi-Oh cards next week, so Robert and I can finally get rid of all these rares we have that are worthless to us (REBD, BEWDs, Time Wizard, Toon Worlds, etc.) and trade them for some we can actually use. Once again, Moonlight runs unofficial tourneys with official rules and regs. Here is my deck in it's current state (I'll also add the list of what my completed deck will look like, and I encourage you to email me with tips and comments about the completed deck. And yes, I know Upstart Goblin sucks ;oD It's a temp fix till I get a Pot of Greed):
~~~Tribute Monsters (4)~~~
1 x Jinzo (If only Data had these kinda powers)
3 x Summoned Skull (My trio of osyluthes)
~~~Normal Monsters (16)~~~
1 x Jirai Gumo (Lloth's servant)
1 x Dark Elf (Drizzt Do'Urden doesn't have anything on this chick)
1 x La Jinn The Mystical Genie Of The Lamp (I wish.....to destroy my opponent! Mwahahaha!)
1 x Harpie's Brother (I'll get my big brother to beat you up!)
1 x Gearfried The Iron Knight (I still say he looks like Kern Desania)
3 x Dark Zebra (Beatdown filler till more La Jinns/Harpies/Fishies join my task force)
1 x Bistro Butcher (See Dark Zebra)
3 x Darkfire Soldier #1 (See Bistro Butcher)
1 x Invader Of The Throne (Must have with the new rulings)
1 x Witch Of The Black Forest (Go ahead and kill her, I dare ya!)
1 x Hayabusa Knight (Double attack is great)
1 x Man-Eater Bug (Yummy monster)
~~~Magic Cards (15)~~~
1 x Monster Reborn (Rise up, my precious Jinzo!)
1 x Swords Of Revealing Light (No attack for you)
1 x Change Of Heart (Don't you hate traitors?)
1 x Dark Hole (Gotta take the bad with the good)
2 x Malevolent Nuzzler (Beef me up, baby!)
1 x Sword Of Dark Destruction (I still need Axes)
2 x Fissure (Buh-bye)
1 x Monster Recovery (Raigeki? Well, I'll be keeping my Jinzo, thank you.....)
1 x The Shallow Grave (Necromantic powers flow through me)
2 x Nobleman Of Extermination (I really don't like traps)
1 x Gravekeeper's Servant (I love killing cards before they come out)
1 x Upstart Goblin (Still waiting on a PoG)
~~~Trap Cards (5)~~~
1 x Seven Tools Of The Bandit (I don't think so)
1 x Trap Hole (Buh-bye #2)
1 x Waboku (Primitive Mirror Force)
1 x Type Zero Magic Crusher (Direct damage is always handy)
1 x Skull Invitation (More burn)
Total Cards (40)
Still no sidedeck as it isn't needed yet. The brackets in this tourney were not quite what I hoped (Robert and I were in the same bracket fourth, so we were destined to fight early). And because of that, this tourney report will be fairly short. Also I didn't write down the LP scores this week, so I'll just put rough guesstimates based on memory. On with the duels!
Round 1
Reno vs. Jacob (60+ card Quasi-Beatdown)
I faced this kid in the 2nd round last week. From what little I saw of his deck, he hadn't made any adjustments yet (or nothing major anyway). Due to New Years Eve being the day after this tourney, most of the details of this tourney have been erased from my memory. I do remember getting out my Hayabusa Knight with a Nuzzler at some point, and the duel ending not long afterwards.
Me: 8000
Jacob: 0
I got a bad draw this duel, all magic/traps. He whacked me with a Giant Soldier of Stone for a few turns before I got some monsters rolling, but after Gearfried and La Jinn got out, he went down without much effort.
Me: 6400
Jacob: 0
Round 2
Reno vs. Robert (Weenie Control)
I hate when the pairings work out like this. Robert and I work together to own the tourneys, so when we have to face each other early, our plans get washed away. Gravity Bind plus a couple pumped up Rainbow Flowers and it was lights out for me before I knew it.
Me: 0
Robert: 6200
I forfeited the second duel. I knew what the outcome with be, and until my deck is finished I don't have much of a shot against the Control element of his deck. So I took the fall without a struggle, then sat back and watched him coast through the rest of the tourney.
Me: 0 (forfeit)
Robert: 8000

Ah well, bad pairings are bound to happen sooner or later. Robert went on to win the tourney once again and won 10 more boosters. The store finally got some LOB boosters in that morning, so he got 6 LOB and 4 MRD. The only decent things he pulled were his last Jinzo #7 and Rainbow Flower he needed, and another SoRL (not that we needed another, but it'll make good trade bait next week). On to the porps and slops!
Props:
To Moonlight for holding the tourney and giving out great prizes!
To Robert for winning
To the Buffy New Year Slay-athon! FX is great!
Slops:
To Robert for owning me with my own creation.......again!
To the tourney bracket.......grrrrrrr
To bad pulls in the boosters
