Final Assault Deck Matt Fillman Richard's Card Shop Santa Paula, CA January 26th, 2003 # of Participants: 6 As you can see, this Tournament was pretty laughable. The bare minimum of participants the Card Shop owner requires is 6, and we just barely made that. Oh, well, whaddaya expect on Super Bowl Sunday? I've only made one adjustment to my Deck. I knew that Blue-Eyes White Dragon needed to go ever since I started losing matches because I kept drawing Blue-Eyes when I couldn't Tribute or needed a game-breaking card (usually both at the same time). I'd never given The Fiend Megacyber the time of day since I'd thought summoning it by its effect counted as a Normal Summon, I decided to try it out since I found out it's considered as a Special Summon. Anyway, I couldn't believe how well it worked for me! Not only did it solve the problem of having to Tribute so many monsters, but in a bind you can bypass it altogether! I don't have any super-powered Level 8 monsters or anything, but that hasn't been a problem (quite the opposite, actually). Man, I can't wait for Gaia the Whirling Knight.... He set a monster and a Trap Card, so I used Swords of Revealing Light and forced his Man-Eater Bug to destroy itself. After attacking him directly with Witch of the Black Forest, he used Dark Hole and summoned Celtic Guardian. I put The Fiend Megacyber into my hand and ended turn without summoning my Gearfried the Iron Knight, but I was well protected by my Swords of Revealing Light, so he just set another monster and ended turn. Now that he had two more monsters than me, I Special Summoned The Fiend Megacyber, summoned Gearfried the Iron Knight, and destroyed his two monsters (the set card was a Mystical Elf). He set yet another monster, but I used Tribute to the Doomed, summoned Goblin Attack Force, and attacked his Life Points. He drew Change of Heart, tributed The Fiend Megacyber for his Jinzo, and attacked my Gearfried the Iron Knight. Luckily, I drew Cannon Soldier and used its effect to finish the match! Round 2 Me vs........ nobody Since there were 3 duelists left, we played Rock-Paper-Scissors to see who got a bye, and I was the odd-man out (again!). Round 3 Me vs Chris This guy's an okay duelist, but I wasn't too worried. He started things off by setting a Wall of Illusion, but I used Dark Hole and attacked directly with Goblin Attack Force. He summoned Harpie's Brother and destroyed my Goblins, but I drew Change of Heart and tributed his Harpie's Brother for The Fiend Megacyber. Once I attacked directly, he went on the defensive with Giant Soldier of Stone and Solemn Wishes, but I destroyed his Soldier of Stone with The Fiend Megacyber and attacked directly with Witch of the Black Forest. He set a monster, but I used Tribute to the Doomed to destroy it, tributed Witch of the Black Forest for Jinzo, and ended this duel. Not really much to brag about since there weren't a lot of competitors, but I won the Tournament nonetheless. I got two Legend of Blue-Eyes packs, which had a Stop Defense and a Spirit of the Harp. I bought a Millenium Shield for $5.00 earlier, which I traded for the LOB Dark Magician and a holographic Monster Reborn. Ivan desperately wants a LOB Dark Magician, so he put up his Spellbinding Circle for it in a Duel. He managed to get his Cosmo Queen on the field and do some damage, but I equipped Snatch Steal to it and finished him in a massive attack. I played him again (he put up Cosmo Queen) and managed to beat him, but I let him keep his Cosmo Queen. He didn't feel like risking any more of his Ultra Rares, so I put up my new Spellbinding Circle against his extra Confiscation and won again. Now that I have some good trading cards, I ahould be ready to get some of the good cards from Labyrinth of Nightmare.... Pros for the Weekend -selling Holo Monster Reborn for $5.00 -buying Millenium Shield for $5.00 -trading Millenium Shield for LOB Dark Magician and Holo Monster Reborn -pulling The Fiend Megacyber from a PSV pack -getting a free Goblin Attack Force from my friend Mark -winning the Tournament -winning Spellbinding Circle and Confiscation from Ivan Cons for the Weekend -not pulling good cards from my LOB packs -having to worry about passing my Math Analysis class (off-topic, but wish me luck anyway!) Well, that should cover this weekend's "Tournament". As always, if anyone has any questions or suggestions, feel free to E-Mail me at mfillman125@msn.com anytime!
