Final Assault Deck Matt Fillman Richard's Card Shop Santa Paula, CA December 23th, 2002 # of Duelists: 16 VACATION!!!! Finally! Well, since everyone's on break, the Card Shop owner decided to hold a "Super" Tournament on Monday instead of a normal Tournament on Sunday. I don't know exactly what made it so super, except that the losers got to play ia a Side Tournament, and the winner of that got a chance to duel the winner of the Main Tournament for first place. I knew that, since things would be different, I'd need to fix up my Deck a bit. I'd finally had it with Solemn Judgment; it was costing me too many duels. I usually negate Trap Cards with it, so I traded it (along with Holo Monster Reborn) for Seven Tools of the Bandit and got myself a SDY Monster Reborn. No big deal.... the Holo Monster Reborn was Canadian anyway. I also helped out my friend Mark by trading Call of the Haunted so he could get the Millenium Shield promo. I don't see why he needed one since he already had Labyrinth Wall, but I guess he likes Ultra Rare cards that much, so whatever. Hopefully I can get another Call of the Haunted soon.... at least now I've covered Mark as far as Christmas gifts go! Things were delayed for awhile for some reason, so I entertained myself with The Eternal Duelist Soul. I've got an almost exact replica of my Deck on there, so I got in some practice until it was finally time to duel! He started off by setting a Mystical Elf, but I used Dark Hole and attacked directly with Gearfried the Iron Knight. After he set Man-Eater Bug, I drew Tribute to the Doomed to clear the field and attack again. He didn't set any monsters, but he did set a Trap Card on the field. Once I attacked with Gearfried the Iron Knight and Goblin Attack Force, he tried to counter with Mirror Force, but I negated it with Seven Tools of the Bandit and ended it. Round 2 Me vs Mark Mark re-structured his Deck yet again, and for some reason it's actually able to hold its own. I started off by setting Witch of the Black Forest, but he used Dark Hole as I predicted and attacked directly with 7 Colored Fish. I set Cyber Jar and Ceasefire, so after he attacked it and we set our monsters, I activated Ceasefire to do 3000 Direct Damage. I drew Raigeki, tributed for Jinzo, and attacked directly with Gearfried the Iron Knight and Jinzo. He formed an interesting strategy; he Reborned his Jinzo and set Waboku, hoping I'd kamikaze with my Jinzo so he could protect himself for another turn. Once I realized what he was tryin' to do, though, I tributed my Gearfried the Iron Knight for Summoned Skull, killed his Jinzo, and let my Jinzo take care of the rest. Round 3 Me vs Enrique My winning streak was broken by Enrique last week, so I was more than a bit worried. Once he set his monster, I set my Morphing Jar #2, but he flipped his Man-Eater Bug to destroy it and attacked directly with La Jinn.... and that's when the REAL fun began! I used The Shallow Grave so he had 3 monsters on the field, then I flipped my Special Summoned Morphing Jar #2! After he tore through cards like Change of Heart, Raigeki, Snatch Steal, and Mirror Force, I activated Raigeki and attacked with my Goblin Attack Force. I used Waboku to protect my Goblins, then tributed for Jinzo. He tried setting his Morphing Jar #2, but I Reborned his Barrel Dragon, pulled off its effect, and ended the duel with a direct attack. Final Round Me vs Sal A curse.... it has to be a curse! There's no other way I could face Sal every week! Mark actually beat him in the first round, but he won the Side Tournament and earned the right to face the winner of the Main Tournament.... me!!! Actually, as close as our duels usually are, this time it was a total shut-out. All he put on the field was a Shining Angel, so I used Change of Heart, tributed it for Summoned Skull, and attacked directly. He brought out Lord of Dragons and used Flute of Summoning Dragon to bring out his Blue-Eyes White Dragon, but I used Waboku to protect my Summoned Skull. Once I used Tribute to the Doomed on his Lord of Dragons so I could target his Blue-Eyes White Dragon, I used Snatch Steal on his Blue-Eyes and brought out Goblin Attack Force to attack him for 7800 Direct Damage! For winning, I got a pack from each set. Here's what I pulled: Metal Dragon (LOB), Elegant Egotist (MRD), Ameba (MRL), and Beast of Talwar (PSV). I managed to trade all of them for a Premature Burial to give to my friend Edmund. Now all he needs is a Swords of Revealing Light! Hopefully by next week, I'll have Call of the Haunted.... Pros for the Weekend: -winning the Tournament -trading Call of the Haunted for Millenium Shield for Mark -trading Solemn Judgment and Holo Monster Reborn (Canadian) for Seven Tools of the Bandit -pulling Beast of Talwar from my Pharaoh's Servant pack -trading Beast of Talwar for Premature Burial for Edmund Cons for the Weekend -losing Call of the Haunted -pulling zip from my other three packs That about covers things for this Tournament.
