Interview With Jessy Samek
By Ryan Spicer

07.06.07

Ryan:  Before we get started I would like to say thank you for taking the time to do this interview.

Ryan:  For my first question what is your name.

Jessy:  JESSY SAMEK

Jessy:  lol

Ryan:  What is your current age and when did you start playing yugioh?

Jessy:  18, and like 3 years ago.

Ryan:  What are some of your accomplishments so far?

Jessy:  many top 8's, umm my win at sjc philly, and rippin off little kids.

Jessy:  ohh and meeting you!

Ryan:  How many shonen jump championships have you attended, and how did you do in them?

Jessy:  I have attended 2 sjc's, my first one being florida 2007, where i went 6-3, and sjc philly where i won.

Ryan:  What did you run at the sjc you won, and did it impact the format in any way?

Jessy:  Well I ran perfect circle, and I believe it changed the format in a certain way.

Jessy:  I mean someone got 2nd at the next shonen jump with it.

Ryan:  Did you attend nationals and how did you do?

Jessy:  I went 7-1, won a feature match against John Jenson, then next round lost to Fili Luna.

Jessy:  And then scrubbed out.

Jessy:  But I did qualify at the regional the next day for the 08 season.

Ryan:  What did you run at nationals and at the regional the next day?

Jessy:  I ran a different varient of PC with metamorphosis at nationals, and then ran the same exact deck the next day.

Ryan:  Are you on a team?  If so, what is the name of the team your on?

Jessy:  ummm im actually lookin for one.

Ryan:  Oh, so your solo?

Jessy:  As of right now, yup.

Ryan:  Is there anyone that really helped you become better at the game, and helped you advance to where you are today?

Jessy:  My friend CHAD TOUJAGUE from florida, he's been there to help.

Ryan:  Do you have any yu-gi-oh "stars" you look up to?

Jessy:  lol

Jessy:  ummm not really.

Jessy:  U?  lol

Ryan:  Nope

Ryan:  Are there any cards you would like to see put on the ban list?

Jessy:  idk, what do you think spicer?

Ryan:  Ring, and Snatch steal.

Jessy:  Trap dustshoot, I like snatch, it makes the game fun.

Jessy:  Cause of my topdeck snatch steal

Ryan:  Really trapdustshoot?  Why not confiscation instead?

Jessy:  Well, I mean dustshoot should be at 1, not mind crush.

Ryan:  I see.

Ryan:  What do you think is the best deck in the format?

Jessy:  Right now, I believe anything with trooper and monarchs...  doesnt matter if you run PC or a monarch variant.

Jessy:  Yugioh is a rich game right now.

Jessy:  If you have the cards you win.

Jessy:  tell everyone to look me up on myspace.

Ryan:  What state do you live in?  And what is your rank?

Jessy:  Right now im ranked 2nd in New York, behind some unknown named ralph something.  He beats a whole bunch of little kids in a sanctioned tournament each week.

Jessy:  But I might be moving to florida soon.  So I dont know what I will be ranked when I move there.

Ryan:  What do you think is most important to do well at a large scale event?

Jessy:  knowin your rules and not misplaying.  All the top players know the game, so the only way to beat them is to not misplay, and draw better.

Ryan:  Do you think cheating is a major problem for yugioh right now?

Jessy:  Im not to sure.  Like alot of the same people do top 16 alot,  and when they get there, they scrub out, maybe because the judges are watching them.  What you think?

Ryan:  I think it is a problem, but I think if you know what to watch for, you should be fine.

Ryan:  Are there any shout outs, you would like to make?

Jessy:  Umm yea, you for giving me the interview, Chad Toujague,  Bobby Chambers for letting me borrow some cards for SJC philly.

Ryan:  Is there anything you would like to say to the yugioh fans?

Jessy:  watch out, im the next big thing.

Ryan:  Do you have a pojo account?

Jessy:  Yea, its jsamek218

Ryan:  Whats the next event you plan on attending?

Jessy:  Well my next jump is most likely SJC indy, but i'll definitely be going to SJC baltimore and durham.

Ryan:  Ok thanks for your time, and good luck in the future!

Jessy:  lol, thanks spicer.
